A disgruntled co-worker brought all this shit up again today. I dunno why people are getting so bent out of shape. No GM or even Supervisor has got on to me for shit, but Don the Marine (the guy of my supervisor) tore into my co-worker 1st thing this morning. Just for trying to hang out with the maintenance crew a few minutes before he even clocked in. Of course he blew up at him. So the co-worker threatened to walk home, etc and then Don decided to tell us "I don't feel good guys.. I'm going home." He's 65 (Don that is. My Co-worker is 10 years younger than me) with mad issues including a pace-maker so I dunno why he even makes a deal out of going home. Sometimes I think it's actually home that's stressing him out. Hell, some days I don't even want to go home when everything is cool in the park so I guess I can partially relate.

I'm going back to Salty Shores as soon as I get out Friday. Haven't been yet this year and I seriously need to check on my surf/fish trailer and tell everyone to fuck off for a day. (They wanted me to work Saturday due to being rained out Tue and Thur. Told em can't but I'll work next Saturday) Probably have to do some caulking at the least, and hopefully get in some kayak action and bring home some shrimps. Bit too cold for surfing yet as I could MAYBE finally afford a good wetsuit now but should save my money for next year as the water will be warm soon anyway.

Had a semi-stoned meeting with my "GM" yesterday. I never talk to this guy (who just turned 40 this spring heh-heh) so it was a bit awkward for me to walk into the office and call him out for it.

Me: "Hey X, I need to talk to you whenever we get a chance."

GM: "Well, we can do it right now. We can walk around the park.."

Me: "Eh yeah let's just step outside.."

So I start out..

Me: "2 things..eh.. maybe more first off. X manager saw me in the break room room taking literally 3 minutes to sit down to drink water and cussed me out military style. Now.. I understand how maybe you micro manage a bit but; did YOU tell him to talk to me?"

GM: "Oh no no no! Every time I see you are working!"

Me: "Ok cool.. just wanted to make sure we understand that. So item #2. I want to work on rides. Caulking, sanding, anything. I heard the older dudes talking about how once they leave no one else can do this. I want to learn the ways."

GM: "Well right now we are not operating so we are in negative income and.."

Me: "I'm not asking for more money."

GM: "I appreciate everything yr doing here and yeah come spring time you can do that."

I still absolutely love this job. I just wish I didn't have to sell things and try to work a 2nd job to pay the bills while doing it in the off-season. Season work pay while I was working security was almost just at "paying the bills but extra money" level.

It seems to vary by location. They just could not get their shit together out at the coast. It consistently gave problems that were only temporarily fixed. Maybe the salt water messes up the lines.. fuck if I know because I don’t work for them.

At home it’s almost always up and is eh 95% reliable. Faster too. However, 84.99 a month is just too fucking high. I’ve watched it creep from 50 to this since 2002. The last time I complained about they pointed to me to a government assistance program because “haha fuck you poor guy! Just ask the government so you can afford our lovely service!”

The company fucking sucked when it was Roadrunner and has just got more and more stupid with every buyout. Spectrum changed our local office to look like an Apple Store. Walked in to return the equipment and dude points to a tablet and says “sir I’m gonna need you to sign in”. I looked at that shit for 5 seconds then told him “Nahhh I can’t be bothered with that. I’ll just wait.” Fucking stupid, awful company.

Also got the Spectrum internet CANCELLED out there. Fuck the "hold" service they charge 5$ a month for. Most of the time when I would come back the shit wasn't working anyway.

I don't even need much speed there and don't need it 24/7. There's got to be a cheaper way for next year..

I did make it to the seafood festival. The waves weren't worth driving across the bridge for. There was an oyster shortage. No fucking oysters. No po boys either come to think of it.

There was however excellent seafood chowder consisting of clams, shrimp, crab, and scallops. Blew nearly 70$ on street seafood that day including more chowder to take back to the trailer. Shrimp tacos, bacon wrapped scallops, etc.

Paddled out to an island to fish and the fucking fishing rod totally locked up after casting. Threw away the piece of shit. Got too lazy to cast the net once again, so bought more shrimp and some fish from the market on the way home. Will be back in November.

Seafood festival tomorrow in Morehead City! About to pass out soon and hit the beach when I wake up, grab a sandwich on the way home, take a nap, then head out to the festival.

Fried oysters! Shrimp po boys with boom boom sauce! Fireworks over the ocean!

Last week and a good part of the week before at the park I did a lot of janitorial work including properly boiling out and cleaning 10 fryers. Corporate has cut back our hours due to the slow start to summer.. so I will be returning to working on my games soon. I’ll mostly be working 8 am til about 3 until sometime next month.

Only song that blares constantly at the waterpark over the speakers I can relate to:

and I'm not leaving. I will continue a cold and hard path until the next summer! I shall bath in the icy waters in May or earlier hahahaha

Took a lot of videos tonight but mainly on my friends phone. This one I took from my iPhone inside my Hurley dry bag down one of the Bermuda Triangle slides. Doing it all over again tomorrow night on possibly different rides. After that, I'll bring all the videos together and edit them for part IVof my YouTube series.

One highlight of the night was hanging out in the cone area of this thing:

Image
(Pic is of a different waterpark, but the slide is identical)

Sliding down with no tubes, we used our trunk-butts to slow ourselves down and get stuck in the cone area. With the rushing water going by and the area only dimly lit by a few LED lights, it felt like the ultimate boy's club house of sorts lol. We just sat in there for around 10-15 minutes.. letting the water rush by, talking, etc.

On a side note, my trunks and towel hanging up in the bathroom room REEK of chemicals from the past 2 days lol

I believe I've attained at least brown belt status as waterpark man.

Tonight the other security guy and this other dude who has worked there for years met me about 10:30 at night. We went over The Edge first and finally an accident occurred! On the way down the 2nd time, I was thrown from my tube and slammed to the slide. As I hear "Oh shit, are you alright?!" I'm dying laughing with how much fun it was.

Then we decided to get a little crazier. We wanted to ride the Von Dark ride, so with the aid of a screwdriver we accessed the pump room and turned that shit on. To our surprise, the purple LED lights in the "bowl" area of this massive ride were working again! We rode doubles, singles, and without a 2-person float at all. I spend some time in the launch tub area just chilling in the warm water, letting the entrance waterfall splash down on me.. basically all the things I always wanted to take the time to enjoy but couldn't as a "guest".

Then we fired up Bermuda Triangle once we were confident in our lockpicking skills without damaging doors. These 3 slides were recently updated with music and LEDs timed with the 3-2-1 counter set off at the launch area. Experiencing these slides at night was wayyyy cooler than riding them in the day. The lights are much more vibrant inside the tubes in the dark. Fucking awesome.

Finally, as the switches to Rip Tide Racers are in the same pump house, we switched it on. I won one race (it's 4 slides complete with a tunnel and huge hill) due to using the "scorpion" technique and being on one of the more polished slides. We all 3 agreed this was real living as we made sure everything was shut down properly.

We will probably be back to our mischief tomorrow night and this time I plan on taking my "dry bag" for my phone to capture some 1st-person videos. In the meantime, here's part II of "Night Shift in a Waterpark" which I forgot to paste the link to a while back..

Welp, only the wave pool was open but it was a great time nonetheless!

Got a swim in. Shot the shit with my dude friends and co-workers while occasionally glancing at the um.. properly attired female co-workers grinding and twerking all over each other. Free pizza and soda. Won an Amazon gift card for 25$.

Yeah man, I'm pretty stoked. I had a lot of fun being flown to California for my last job 3 times. Nice hotels, free food, different environment, etc but I never got to do anything like rent a wet suit and surf out there.

On another note, I always keep an eye on recent Google reviews of our park. "Too expensive!" is a reasonable complaint given the price of parking, food, checking in a cooler if yr too lazy to walk to yr car, cabana rental if you want your own area, etc. However, recent reviews complaining of "fat shaming" are both stupid and funny to me. The only rides with this limit are slides that involve a raft.. usually a 2 person raft. Most of these rafts have a 400 pound limit at most. I've done inventory of the busted rafts and tubes for the years.. and it's right around 100. Do you really want to go plunging down a tall slide only to have the float you are on pop and your tailbone get shattered? Wtf are you complaining about? It's physics, not discrimination. Just like how you can't ride most of these rides I've referred to unless you have TWO people because not enough weight can be just as dangerous or just lame due to not enough speed.

End of the year "Lūʻau" company party coming up in a couple of days. Employees only. Wave pool, half-pipe slide, and the RV toilet flush-style slides will all be running while other fun stuff is going on. I've never been more excited for a company party lol

Slept too much yesterday afternoon/evening. Worked my 1-8 am shift, went home, tried to lay down for another nap, then went right back to the park at 11 am and stayed til 3 pm. Going by myself during the day for the first time was pretty cool; though now I don't really feel like I'm there by myself as I see and talk to many of my co-workers.

Rode all my favorite slides numerous times including the 70 footer.. but man am I sore and wore out now.

Just sent you an email with a couple of pictures. Didn’t feel it was a good idea to put here.

I started to ask my boss about getting an actual key yesterday.. but was interrupted by him standing up to storm into the break room to yell at people lol

Flack, can you pick locks? That's so cool, I want to learn. I watch The Lockpicking Lawyer all the time.
