No, not always. Brianna Taylor's boyfriend is suing the police officers who, in civilian clothing, used a battering ram to break in, without announcing they were police, killing Brianna - who was unarmed - and putting him in a wheelchair. Because he was holding a gun - not pointing it at them - to add insult to injury, charged him with threatening the police! Fortunately someone came to their senses.

The city tried to argue before a federal appeals court either that the police had qualified immunity, or that when armed police officers bust down someone's door without announcing, in civilian clothes, that they are still entitled to the protection of police officers, rather than being of the same status as an armed home invader. And also tried to argue it is not clearly established law that police can't shoot civilians when they pose no threat. The appeals court carved the lawyers for the officers and the city a new one over that.

Maybe when you fight authority, you lose, but others do win.

I have been going out of my way to avoid bringing up what a condescending bitch boy you've been lately, because you don't understand anything and you never will, but that one is really obnoxious.

Maybe for others, but it never works for me. I try to keep a sense of humor about it, though.

I've been doing it since I was a young kid and I come out grinnin'.

I wish the PS4 "low power" mode charged the controller when hooked up to it until it was at 100%. It's so frustrating to have the PS4 take energy, have the controller connected to it and then try to use a dead controller wirelessly.

I wish the PS4 "low power" mode did updates at a user-configurable time (3AM?) so it wouldn't always have to do an update over slow internet when I tried to use it. Right now I don't understand the point of the low power / rest mode. It seems a mode that does nothing but bitch at me when power goes out at my house.

I wish that Github didn't require personal access tokens on machines to use git on the command line. Username and passwords were fine. Since they made it so you have to generate a personal access token to, you know, use git on a command line I wish the Github UI detected when you tried to use your password and then, when you went to Github, gave you ample instructions on how to generate a personal access token that you can use to do your job. Oh and I'd say these tokens are less secure because they are generated. If I want to use Github on a different computer I have to get that token over to the computer somehow and I am sure not going to type it in someplace. Also, if they are going to make this change, I wish that they asked for a username and PERSONAL ACCESS TOKEN on the command line, not a username and a password WHEN THEY KNOW the password won't work. Github's implementation here is incredibly stupid.

When adding someone to your team in Steam's Steamworks web app, they have about 15 permissions you can give to the person you are inviting. I wish there was a "Select All" button that would select all the permissions. I get that hating Steam is the point though. Well, I do hate using Steam as a developer.

I wish the LastPass Windows executable wasn't so terrible. I couldn't actually close it the other day. I had to close it from the system tray. That's secure. A password manager you can't close.

I am trying to purchase 4 bookcases from Ikea. The closest Ikea to me is 230 miles away. Ikea's website has two options: curbside pickup and delivery. Delivery is $119 for a $49 bookshelf and the first available date is "30+ days." Curbside Pickup is permanently grayed out because all the pickup slots are filled for the next three months. The only other option is to check the website, make sure the shelves are in stock, and then drive 230 miles to Grand Prairie, Texas with my fingers crossed... which is what I did yesterday.

Before leaving the house I checked their website one last time: 24 shelves in stock. Assuming no one was going to buy 24 sets of shelves, we left the house around 7am and arrived at Ikea just after they opened. Of course... there were no shelves there. The shelves that hold the shelves were empty. I checked the website again and it said they had 22 sets of shelves in stock. I asked an employee to look in the back and he said there is no back -- what's there is there. I showed him my phone and he said huh, guess the website is wrong.

I complained on Twitter and Ikea quickly responded and said "oh no! DM us and let us help you!" I DM'ed them and 12 hours later... nothing. This is twice in the past month that I've had a company very quickly respond to me publicly on Twitter in an attempt to save face, but then do nothing behind the scenes to actually fix the problem.

While typing this I got a response from Ikea on Twitter, who informed me that the store in Grand Prairie, Texas has 22 of the shelves in stock. I checked the website and it also shows they have 22 in stock. That's how many it said yesterday, when they had none. Fool me once with the football, Lucy...

Great work, Ikea. They made it so that it's easier to just burn the books.

I hope you posted this additional story (to the extent you can given -Twitter's message size - and tell people "Don't trust IKEA, don't buy from IKEA, IKEA lies to you, and when IKEA asks you to contact them, IKEA blow you off and ignores you. Don't give IKEA your money."

Repeat the above with, "Then IKEA doubled down with lies and betrayal that IKEA knew was wrong, and they don't care." Make noise. Contact your local newspaper and TV stations and tell them. And contact the media in the nearest city to that store, too. Refuse to be pissed on by IKEA, and get pissed off instead. Then proceed to piss right back on them.

Oh, and add a pithy hashtag #IkeeaWillLieToYou, #IKEAWillBetrayYou etc Always be factual, then their's no grounds to claim you libeled them.

They're sending a news crew over tomorrow to interview me in regards to #ShelfGate. Wish me luck!

Well wait a minute. You have roughly 7-8 hours to travel 250 miles each way (based on an average speed of about 60-70 mph in both directions, but even at an average speed of 80 mph (and it's probably going to average less than that) it's a minimum 6 hours round trip), and spend upwards of $25 in gas to purchase an item, but it takes too long to call them and spend 20-30 minutes on the phone to verify the item is actually there?

cute. Actually I have 3 clients so that's like 3 jobs now, I'm like a Mexican these days but calling ahead has been my SOP for decades ever since my wife started making me do da errands.

The commander correctly pointed out the time value of calling ahead, especially since they could even hold one for you. My bet is you prefer the time in your truck, maybe away from the fam.
