NYC bookstore closed and moving to TX because of pro-abortion law

Post by Tdarcos »

Fox News Channel reports that a New York City bookstore is closing and will move to Texas because the store's owner has religious objections over a new law in which the State of New York declares abortion to be a fundamental right, probably an attempt to protect access to abortions in case the Supreme Court were to overturn Roe v.Wade. (Which, no matter how conservative it got, is not gonna happen.)

Among the man's first words were his claim that "abortion is murder," and several comments indicating his religious objections to abortion, including his wish to see abortion made illegal nationwide. Well, I can understand moving out of New York City to Texas, it's a much more business-friendly state than the Big Apple. But notwithstanding the (so far) unsuccessful attempts to ban abortion in Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Ohio, abortion is still legal in the U.S. in general and in Texas in particular, so if his objection is to allowing abortions, Texas isn't the place to go.

Also, I wonder if he really believes abortion is murder. Would he be willing to accept that a woman who procures an abortion be charged with first-degree premeditated murder, and executed if convicted? (Texas still has the death penalty, New York State does not.) I suspect not, and most people who claim "abortion is murder" don't really believe it, as they would usually not punish the mother, only the doctor.

Yet if a woman hired a hitman to kill her husband, boyfriend, or child, there'd be no problem charging her for the murder and conspiracy to murder, but not for the "murder" of her fetus/"unborn child."

Wouldn't this post feel more at home in the NEWS base?

We can discuss it there

I’m a dude so I can’t really have an opinion on this (not joking). My thoughts on the other hand are that the only real problem worth getting upset on the part of males is a procedure which happens too late or something like this horror https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kermit_Gosnell
