POKER QUIZ!
I was playing a little online poker yesterday, and this amazing hand presented itself:
Obviously, I felt I was in pretty good shape to win the hand. But how good a shape was I in?
Let's do the POKER QUIZ!

Re: POKER QUIZ!
The only thing that beats four of a kind are straight flushes. By removing the cards you're holding, I get:
2 3 4 5 6 (x4)
3 4 5 6 7 (x4)
4 5 6 7 8 (x4)
5 6 7 8 9 (x4)
6 7 8 9 10 (x3)
7 8 9 10 J (x3)
8 9 10 j Q (x3)
If I'm thinking right, there are 25 hands that could beat you.
Figuring odds, there are 311,875,200 possible card combinations in poker (52*51*50*49*48).
Your odds of winning were pretty good I'd say. ALL IN!
2 3 4 5 6 (x4)
3 4 5 6 7 (x4)
4 5 6 7 8 (x4)
5 6 7 8 9 (x4)
6 7 8 9 10 (x3)
7 8 9 10 J (x3)
8 9 10 j Q (x3)

Re: POKER QUIZ!
To clarify, I'm asking about this exact scenario. So while a 2-6 straight flush would beat a four of a kind, that hand is not possible in the scenario shown in the image.

Fuck. I voted wrong but can't change it :P
There are NO hands that can beat you, simply because you old the only remaining king card.

Re: POKER QUIZ!
Oh my god, I'm a dope. I was thinking there were five cards in play instead of four. Let me refigure that.
Four aces would beat that hand.
A straight flush would beat that hand.
9 10 J Q K (x3 because you hold Ks)
10 J Q K A (x3 because you hold Ks)
I'm going to change my vote to 7. Can I change my vote to 7?

Flacks vote is now 7.
NCs vote is now zero? I guess zero.

Re: POKER QUIZ!
We'll let people keep voting (and changing their votes) over the weekend, or until it's obvious nobody cares about this, and then I will reveal the answer and we can discuss it, until it's obvious nobody cares about this.

Re: POKER QUIZ!
Ah fuck again. It's not zero... Flack is right. Straight flushes are possible, and so are four aces. I know jack shit about poker I wish we could change our votes.
The four of a kind hands that can beat this are the 4 different ace suits. Then the straight flushes. There's 4 straights for 9 to K and another 4 for 10 to A. One of them is not possible because you hold a 10. So 4 + 4 - 1 = 7 possible straight flushes. Add the 4 possible four of a kind ace hands and you get 11 possible hands that can beat you.
So I change my vote to 11.

Re: POKER QUIZ!
Goddamit again.
The flushes with spades are not possible because you have the king of spades. Flushes with clubs are also not possible for both 9-K and 10-A, not just 10-A (because you have the 10 of clubs.) So the only possible flushes are diamonds and hearts. Spades and clubs are completely eliminated by your king of spades and 10 of clubs.
So:
4 ace hands
+ 2 possible straight flushes for 9-K
+ 2 possible straight flushes for 10-A
= 8 hands that can possibly beat you.

That was a screencap of pokernow.club which is where I play. You have to have a Discord account, which I know you do, because you have five of them on my Discord alone.

Re: POKER QUIZ!
After we've settled on an answer, I will describe how the rest of that hand played out, which was a pretty funny story in itself. Don't worry, I won. One of the (???) hands that could beat me did not come up.

What are the rules, that's what I meant. Is it like Vermont Hold 'Em or whatever?

Re: POKER QUIZ!
It's Texas Hold 'Em.
Everyone gets two cards. There's a betting round.
Three cards ("the flop") are laid out on the table (the state at which the pictured hand was in). Everyone shares the cards in the middle. So, since there are three Kings out there, and I have another one, I have "four of a kind". There's another betting round.
A fourth card is played ("the turn"). Again, you're using your own two cards, and the cards in the middle, to make the best five-card hand possible. Another betting round.
The final card is played ("the river"). Same thing, of the five in the middle (that everyone shares) and your own two, you're trying to make the best five-card hand. Or bluff well enough where everyone else folds. The last betting round happens.
If there are two or more people left in the hand at the end of the final betting round, the "showdown" occurs, and the last to bet shows their hand, and anyone who beat them shows their hand. Or everyone just turns over their cards and the best hand wins the pot.
