I always pronounced it with short i, bihn-ock-ularz or bihn-ock-ulerz, but I've heard both i versions being used. According to Wiktionary, either pronunciation is correct. They show both as valid (in the formal IPA coding) as:
/ˈbɪnˌɒk.jʊ.lə(ɹ)z/ ɪ = y as in city, or i as in mania; ɒ = o in not or a in wasp; ʊ = ou in tour; ə = e in winner or o in error
OR /ˈbənˌɒk.jə.lə(ɹ)z/

Apparently we're all wrong, because the correct term for the thing strapped around your neck that you look at the Grand Canyon through is "a binocular".

Nobody says that, though. So who's wrong now?
