Description sounds kinda cool but I gather it's something you have to pay for to watch on Hulu or no?

Don't know how that works, my wife buys all the streaming. I suppose there's a monthly fee

I'm not the best guy in the world to make a television show recommendation, I've had a mute button addiction for many years now. However, if a show can get me to watch it, all of it, with the sound on, it must be pretty good, right?* I heartily entreat all of you to watch 'Only Murders In The Building'. It's on Hulu+ or your favorite torrent site. It's a murder mystery with Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez. There's a lot of podcasting stuff, murder mystery stuff and a big dose of ASL in episode 7. There's also a companion podcast called 'Only Murders in the Pod'
What you do is watch an episode on tv then listen to the podcast episode for that week. Or you could just binge away and watch the whole thing in five hours. I had to exert restraint and only watch two episodes per night to make it last longer.

(*the last television show I actually watched with avidity was Cougartown, so this statement if patently false)

We tried the first episode. I thought it was unwatchably, embarrassingly terrible, the kind of thing old people from Rochester would like if they had the sound off. My wife liked it slightly more because she's a true-crime fan and so identified slightly with the terrible characters.

Booooo.

Turn the sound on for some good shows.

Thank you for trying it. I appreciate the effort. There's not much in the way of media that I would recommend so any feedback is welcomed. There are no better shows for me. Just re-watched the Sting episode and had as much fun as the first time.

Maybe it gets better, or maybe you just never watch anything so you think this is good. I dunno.

I like Steve Martin. Christ almighty, I even like Martin Short, but at least the first episode reeked of "lets get these old legends out here and make them do something goofy, with Selena Gomez, that sounds funny, right? GET IT OUT TO THE FANS!"

Maybe it gets better.

Now, contrast this with "Murderville", which we watched right afterward, which is Will Arnett doing pseudo-improv with a weekly guest, the first which was Conan O'Brien.

I mean, this was at least people trying to be actually funny. It didn't totally work, but when it did, it did. And it has my new favorite joke ever:

"Two Jews walk into a--"
"Okay, no, we're not cool with that, do something else."
"Alright, so, four or five Jews walk into a..."

OMitB is a murder mystery first and comic vehicle second. It does get better. Not sure where the director was going with the reverse film parts but they aren't in any other episodes.

I watched the trailer for Murderville ( I am watching a lot of tv lately, wtf) and it reminds me of Whose Line is it Anyway crossed with The Streets of San Francisco. A little research shows it to have been a British show redone for America. I will check it out later this month

I'm not saying it was great. Don't expect greatness. (Except for that one joke.)

Well, if you write that into a script for a rehearsed show, that's lame. If you force Marshawn Lynch to improv his way through it, that's funny.

"I even like Martin Short." That line has been bugging me for a while now.

Which was amazing. Conan just casually reminds us he's a master at improv.
