New SNL is great and you are wrong

Post by Ice Cream Jonsey »

I will be posting sketches from new Saturday Night Live that are good if not great. You are wrong if you think that it was only good x-20 years ago. You are wrong and I will prove it.

Well at least they could say the N word without the network firing everyone.

I smiled at Uncle Ben, this sketch gets a C+

Well that's insane, but I see how it's going to be, you're going to force me to attack the community here. We are now going to have to fight one another.

That was not a good skit. If you have to rely on Chappelle breaking character to get laughs, it's not a good skit. You're on the wrong side of history here.

Maya was fine as Aunt Jemima. I maybe like Keenan more than most, and he looked just like Uncle Goddamn Ben.

Chappelle just casually nails Dennis Haysbert's voice. That's great! And easy to gloss over.

Again, everyone seeing the skit sees Count Chocula there which ruins the comedic surprise so they sabotaged everyone's enjoyment. Lorne fired Norm again for that.

No part of the skit's fun is the lips part. For me.

I wanted to laugh at Count Chocula, I wanted to. There was something missing... Maybe if had a bowl of cereal; something!
Chevy Chade calling Richard Pryor a migger and the resulting eye-twitch was just funnier, what can I say.

Please post another sketch, that one where Chappell is a blind KKK dude. It might not be SNL but it's funny.

I guess my thing is, I never stopped watching it. I have a specific memory of watching it in third grade*, and I can't remember ever not watching it after that. I have the DVR set to record SNL and each Saturday I get a classic episode and the new one. People like to say the old ones were great but they're just like the new ones -- one or two funny skits and a whole lot of filler. The worst (in my opinion) is when a character catches on and then you know for that entire season (or longer) you're going to get, you know, a Church Lady skit or a Hanz and Franz skit or whatever, and so many of them are just the same formula over and over (I'm thinking of those cheerleader skits and the bobbing head guys). But anyone who says "that show hasn't been funny since 19xx" should go back and watch the old ones because they aren't that funny, either. People just remember the funny stuff.

(*I was in Chicago the night of my aunt and uncle's wedding, and had been left at my uncle's house in charge of two or three sleeping kids while the grown ups had a late night celebration. I was watching Saturday Night Live when my aunt busted in through the front door of my uncle's house and said, "Welp, your f'in uncle just got arrested." I guess Chicago cops were pretty serious about DUIs, even back then.)

I know you guys are going to lose your minds and post fart faces because this skit is not the indisputable greatest one of all time but I thought of you haters because Pete Davidson and the other cracked me up on a day where America needed it most.

This one was funny and hit a little too close to home.

I think that a bunch of cast members may leave or go to other projects for next year but I think the cast is totally fine and while maybe it doesn't specifically hit the heights it did when we/all of us were in 8th -12th grade, it's still pretty good.

Also BRB doing some last minute shopping for my wife and my mother.
