Narrative
Incident Description I live at the HCR Manorcare Transitional Care Center. I am restricted to a bed as I am unable to move. I weigh 300 pounds which requires an aide (or 2) to move me when I have a bowel movement in order to change me. At approximately 1:00 PM today an aide came in to change me, either my tablet would be on the bed, and I'd place it on the table, or it would already be on the table as there is no other place I could have put it. After I was changed the aide left, and I was using my desktop computer, so I was not looking at the table. When I brought the table over I found my tablet is not on it. I tried calling the VoIP telephone number that the tablet was using, but no ring occurred, indicating the tablet is not nearby. My roommate checked for me, and the tablet is not next to my bed or under it, and the box it came in, normally on my bed, is also missing.

I am willing to prosecute.

I wonder if they automatically filter out larceny/theft reports that mention bowel movements.

The case hinges on the time his bowels moved

Fortunately the police have a lead, as Paul's genitals witnessed the crime.

Paul, do you have a google account signed in on the tablet? If so theres a chance that checking your history on google maps can tell you if the tablet has left the building. When i lost my phone once, afterward google maps history showed me (i.e. my phone) taking a nice trip across the lake to Bellevue. Didn't help but was interesting to see.

I have good news.. and bad news

Post by Tdarcos »

The comments by the peanut gallery here were hilarious, and I appreciated the suggestion by C.O. but the tablet does not have sim card support, so it can't transmit data over cellular networks, and once it left the building the Wi-Fi connection would be over.

I had to come back to this thread to get the report number as I need to make a modification. When I was readjusting things on my other table, I found the tablet! Both a different aide and my roommate failed to spot it. So I'm not out a tablet.

Bad news is I ordered a second, cheaper tablet to replace it and a tablet I bought that the Wi-Fi does not work. If you have ever used a tablet you know a tablet without Wi-Fi is effectively worthless, you can't communicate, and you can't download apps. While you can, unlike with Apple products, sideload apps, you'd have to either do it through USB tethering, Bluetooth (if it has Bluetooth, the Bluetooth works, and another device you can download from has it), or through an SD card. Plus, you'd have to be using an app that does not require Wi-Fi, which excludes things like Kindle, Mobile banking or anything needing live data. Plus, most free games require you to watch an ad after each session, and if it simply means it won't play ads, great, but it might simply fail to work.

Having no Wi-Fi on a tablet sucks.

So it looks like I will have two tablets, an 8-core slightly better machine, and a cheaper blue tablet with a leather case, headphones and a keyboard. That one cost $79, and if that one had not failed I'd not have bought the one that I thought went missing. However, the box did go missing.

Narrative
Incident Description Update to report T21001782 I filed Friday 4/30. As I noted in my prior report, I am unable to move and require others to help me. So, anyway, despite two different people being told my tablet was missing, nether saw it was sitting on my other table. It is possible it was moved to protect it or I put it on the wrong table. Thus the property was not stolen and had it not been that two others did not see it either I would not have reported it as stolen, and now I feel like a fool.

I am not willing to prosecute.

There was a zero percent chance someone stole the tablet. That was going to be my original reply, but then I got side-tracked by bowel movements. And not for the first time.
