[ANNOUNCE] Burning Down the House!

Post by Ben »

If you download only one half-finished, not-modified-for-over-a-year, the-author-doesn't-even-remember-if-it-compiles Hugo source code file this week, make sure it's:

BURNING DOWN THE HOUSE!!

I hereby release this file to the public domain, as a cautionary measure for the children. Sort of a "scared straight" thing for wannabe Hugo authors who come up with a cool idea for a game but don't have the discipline to actually complete anything in their entire stupid lives.

house.hug is available at:

Please hold your applause until the end.

Ben

Two things.

1. If you downloaded the file within five minutes of when I posted it, download it again. The game should start with a Soundgarden quote. If it doesn't, you don't have the author-endorsed version.

2. Oh, MAN. I just played through some of this thing again. I used to be one funny motherfucker, you know that? What the hell happened to me? OMG OMG, I am DYING over here.

Whatta guy. I'm attempting to start a new BBS and he releases a game for it.

Downloading... and compiling... as I type this.

Holy Cow, you coded "bennie" as a synonym for the photograph. I say again: whatta guy.

Oh, yeah: it compiled. Maybe you should, ah, release a "compiled" version for people who do not have the standard Hugo library and the compiler on their PCs. The kids are wild about executables these days. It's all the rage!

Thank God for this game. We get one Ben Parrish game a year, and I thought, since Aggravatron was released in like January of 2001, that we weren't going to get one this year. Whew. That is quite the load off my mind.

Full of the truly bad humor of someone too lazy to code.
Reminds me of my first ones written in MS-DOS BATCH files.

I like it.
WHOOA!

As a current reference from Roody, this file isn't there; do you still have it and can I?

Ben will have to verify, of course, but I don't remember anybody still having house.hug around anywhere, which has just added to its mystique.
