I'm taking some time off ~ Stay Classy Jolt Country!

Post by RetroRomper »

Preservat!on Quest has become more and more real, with a good chap stepping up to be the Assistant Manager, another assisting with breaking down projects, a trainer / SME for the team, and I've been interviewing a few people to produce content (articles, video scripts, etc.) and that needs to be my focus for the next week or two as we're implementing an actual re-organization.

Image

This is our near final logo / wordmark (it needs a bit of work per the feedback from an artist I'm working with) and on top of that, I've roped someone into building us a website to place the videos (two right now, with another three planned) and articles that are coming up front and center.

I'm going to continue to work with BryanB and am going to devote time either this weekend or early next week to completing and sending out the Adventure Creation Kit questionnaire, sadly with so much coming my (our) way, my time has become more and more precious.

I'll see everyone in a bit!

Stay classy, you foxy friends of mine.

--Retro "man, this has become soooo cool" Romper.

PS I may stop in to show off some photos I've found of BLM in the wild.

This is because of me, by the way. I'll count this as running him off, though it was indirect in nature. I'll put that feather in the ol' capperoonie.

I'm glad to hear Preservation Quest is going so well. I could tell you missed the camaraderie and organization of working for a nonprofit so this is fantastic for you. You're the only person I know who I can truly say was BORN to work for or run a retrogaming nonprofit. It's in your bones! This is what you were meant to do to the extent anyone was meant to do anything. Good on you for grabbing firm hold of your destiny. I look forward to hearing more about Preservation Quest's myriad future projects.

I was going to email you to ask if you'd be following the IF competition this year, but it sounds like you'll be too busy. It'll be my main gaming focus for the next month or so I'll have limited time for all things ACK but I will try not to put it completely on the back burner.

I invited him to play some Northgard, and then before the game started I was doing my little Don Rogers bit with him on voice chat, and then before I knew what was happening he said "I'M NOT COMFORTABLE" and hung up, and then left the BBS. Because he's a humorless little pudwhacker who is okay acting like a jackass everywhere he goes, but when anyone calls him on it, they're being insensitive and causing him emotional stress that he can't handle.

Dickhead.

I emailed you earlier this morning about the whole thing.

And I won't comment even with my own viewpoint, as it includes a few personal details.

I love me some IF and interviewed someone who has created quite a few visual novels in that space, plus I've run out of Robb Sherwin and Emily Short games to play, so I'm waiting in rapture for what comes out of this years competition.

Is that a YA novel? Because I'm reading through this and it is the trashiest thing I've ever read:

And this from a guy who has a box full of 80s' porn paperback novels.

I've been playing Control which mixes supernatural / Secret Government Agency (SCP like) with monstrosities out of your night mare, then wraps them up in a inter dimensional building that is changing around you and re-configures itself on the fly. I'd link the trailer, but they thought it righteous to put a number of spoilers in the middle and end of it that ruin certain specific surprises that you don't have any idea about till the mid to late game. A synopsis will have to do:
Control is less a horror game than it is a game of unsettling strangeness.
The game is from the same folks that brought you Max Payne and the battle mechanics are sooooo much deeper and far more sophisticated, that it's difficult to create a mental bridge between them. The same flavors are there though, and anyway, go to play!

You said you ran out of Emily Short games but you don't know what City of Secrets is.

I bought Control but haven't played ong enough for the piece of shit to let me save. I'm going to let go of the game's title and the fact that you, the player, can't initiate a save game.
