Anyway, yeah, Brutal Doom is amazing. I hope those floppies made it to the right place they were meant to be.

I shall quote Wikipedia on this.
Brutal Doom is a game mod for the 1993 first-person shooter Doom created by the Brazilian developer Marcos "Sergeant Mark IV" Abenante. It adds numerous gameplay elements and graphical effects. The mod has been in development since 2010, and continues to release new updates.[1][2]

Gameplay
Brutal Doom adds many gameplay features, such as blood splattering, allied Marines, an updated particle system, the ability to drive vehicles such as tanks,[3][4][5] stealth kills, headshots, and a host of "Mortal Kombat-esque fatality animations".[6][7] Enemy AI has been revamped, with most enemies gaining new attacks and behaviors.[7]

The mod includes new and updated guns, such as a flamethrower, the demonic Unmaker, assault shotguns, new rifle types, a grenade launcher and even allows the player to equip enemy weapons in the form of Revenant missiles or a Mancubus' flame cannon. In addition the weapon mechanics have also changed, with certain guns requiring reloading, having recoil, and iron sights or scopes.[8]

An actual 501(3)c non-profit. Would you like to see your collection preserved?
I was not aware of that. What's the site?

I don't really think of it as a "collection", though I guess that's what it is, essentially. While I do have a whole slew of old games, I don't know how many are actually very notable in that "there are only a few remaining copies" way. I'd say my boxed copy of this game is the most rare one I can think of. If you want I can send more info. Send me your email. All I would ask is that if you end up with duplicates and you end up selling them that I get some of the money. ;-)

Yup, it was a great game.

I don't really want them, but it's too saddening to just throw them away. Actually I might be able to sell that one on Ebay.

Doom reminds me of Pinback's first BBS because I experienced both in the same apartment on the same computer. I remember my jaw dropping in amazement when Doom first started up.

Thanks for the history on that, icj!

I remember it too. Never played it because the screenshots just did not make the game interesting to me. I spent a lot of time researching that event during and after it happened; really just out of curiosity.

I liked the "School Doom" mod for Doom 2. The concept was basically what if you showed up to shoot up people but everyone in the school is armed and trying to shoot you instead lol

Am I the only person who remembers Super Columbine Massacre RPG?

Freaking difficult as all hell's when you enter the second part of the game.
I remember it.

It was featured in some kind of weird thing that nobody really does with games any more. The word Slam was involved. One sec. Oh yeah, the "Slamdance" festival. Hah, this feels like a million years ago. I am sure I have told this story before and in the interest of not pulling a Tdarcos, I'll see if I can find it... ok, not really.

So, I paid $20 to "enter" the thing that Super Columbine RPG was in. I guess the normal fee was $45 but there was an early submission discount and they did a discount for text adventures. 5 months went by and I didn't hear anything. Then I got a half-page email talking about why they didn't pick it and that was it. There was no list of games that were submitted. The whole thing now seems so DUMB. That's how desperate we were to get the word out for games in 2005 or whatever it was. It enabled the fucking grifters. I am glad it all blew up and they never did another one. They were grifting scum.

I was glad that everyone pulled out when the Slamdance people said they were removing SCMRPG. I can't imagine that happening now. Like, I can imagine people pulling out of an "online festival" if someone found that the organizer once called something gay. That I can see. But supporting a dude that made a game about spree shooting... times have changed in that respect.

The Columbine is the official flower of Colorado.

My friend Andrea told me how there was a plan to release a license plate with a picture of the blue columbine and the phrase "Choose Life". Now, what would you think of that? it's a reference to the Columbine Massacre, right?

Wrong. Pro-abortion activists fought it because they thought it was a pro-life message!

It is good! Tried it before Doom 2016 came out. I have yet to try to interface my Corporate Doom mod with it, but I should check it out.

Also, Doom Legacy supports TCP/IP multiplayer
