BioMass is a pixel art side scroller where the guy just said "fuck it" and gave his characters lightsabers.
It looks very nice and has a "TV" mode which makes it look like it is running on a bad TV from the 70s, the kind that was a giant tank in your living room and the goddamn kids keep leaving their plates on it. Why don't you tell them to clean up after themselves, goddamit, you're home all day. Ohhh okay I have to fucking bust my ass down at the mill and come back and raise these two kids too? Ohhh. Ohhhhh okay. Keep -- keep it up. Fuck around and find out.
I don't mean to pick on BioMass for what I am about to say, but I don't know any other way to put this. I'm ... I'm good on the "tutorial level." They are all tedious as hell and at this point if you're making a pixel art game, no, it's not somebody's first game. Nobody would do this without previously having played a game with this art style. The tutorial for this just needs to tell me the controls on a static screen. I'll figure it out. I have played literally hundreds of these games.
The one spot where I could have used an assist because it was trying to do something unique was where there was a guy spinning his lightsaber. I think the game was trying to tell me how to block it, but who the fuck knows. I die and I have to start the entire game over. This exact same thing has happened to me at least 100 times. Tutorial level, die, game hasn't initiated a checkpoint save because it's the tutorial and I get to do it all over again. It's killing my desire to ever play these types of games and I wish devs would stop it.
