Flack said in IRC that MalwareBytes got hit by the same crew that got into that other thing that my memory isn't helping me with.

I never thought of my anti-virus tripping here, I thought it was the nanny site blocking software Manorcare has installed to prevent visiting Porn Sites, Anonymizers, and VPNs.

AVG Free Edition is so damn annoying, because I'd tell it to ignore the XDPW directory where I'm doing frequent re-compiles of the compiler, but noooo, it keeps either flagging XDPW.EXE as a potential suspicious program requiring it be inspected for viruses, or it quarantines it and removes it! So I typically disable file checks for the entire computer because it won't honor its own system being told that a certain directory should be ignored when a new file appears or is changed.

Thanks for letting me know. As per Flack's suggestion, I edited Jizaboz's post and removed the text that contained the exploit. Hopefully that stops the anti-virus software from not going further and blocking the whole site for people.

That's actually a good thing. I think Jiz posted the actual exploit so either he or an admin could hide it behind a spoiler tag or remove it and fix the thread.

In the list of new messages is an entry: 0 Day Clickless NTS Exploit **HOT**, which points to https://www.joltcountry.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=12009, (of whom the last poster listed is Flack) when I either click on it or (my preferred method) Right-Click and select "Open in new window" I get this:

Secure Connection Failed

An error occurred during a connection to www.joltcountry.com. PR_CONNECT_RESET_ERROR
  • The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.
  • Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem.
Learn more…

Just trying to convert to a non-secure connection takes work, but I finally got http://www.joltcountry.com /phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=12009 to paste in, and when I send that, it drops the http:// part, which I expected, and I get a very fast flash view of the BBS general page view, a short very quick view of a tweet, then the page is blanked out and replaced with this:

The connection was reset
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.
  • The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
  • If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer’s network connection.
  • If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

Sometimes Firefox doesn't even flash view, it goes direct to the error message. But if I go to the message by Aardvark, "LA Noire" at topic #11493 (https://www.joltcountry.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=11493) there is no problem. (Presumably, going to a message isn't the problem or I couldn't even be here.)

So next I tried https://www.joltcountry.com/phpBB3/ in the Microsoft Edge browser, and that comes up just fine, in that godawful purple skin. So then I try that link to Topic #12009 (with https), and got

Hmmm… can't reach this page
The connection was reset.
Try:
  • Checking the connection
  • Checking the proxy and the firewall
  • Running Windows Network Diagnostics
ERR_CONNECTION_RESET

Trying http:// on that same Topic#12009 gets the purple background and that's all! But if I change the topic number from 12009 to 11493 it works fine in Microsoft Edge too. (Except for the horrible purple background, but that's a different matter.)

So there's something there, but it's so bad someone (or something) has decided I must not see it!
