We got one streamer who will be available to bail us out of jail if collectively we switch to swatting!
I'm curious, is it that the player who commits that crime uses IP location techniques and is able to get their address through on-line lookup services, or is it that the person makes the mistake of giving out their personal information, like home address and telephone number, to random strangers on the Internet that they don't even know?
WRT me, if anyone remembers, when I was living in University Park I never exposed my street address either here or on Caltrops. Plus, I never played on-line co-op or competitively. As for now in my case, first I'm in a secured building, second, if cops showed up the front desk would point out that none of the residents could have weapons sufficient to commit an attack on others of the kind requiring a paramilitary response team. There is no way someone of my physical incapacity could even use a rifle, let alone get it in the building. Third, everyone here has known each other in excess of eight years, presumably we're all friends here, and you don't do that sort of thing to people you care about.
I think that sort of thing is on the level of people who do things without realizing the consequences. Like a vindictive woman in divorce proceedings who claim her soon-to-be ex-husband sexually molested their daughter, then discovers to her shock and horror that Child Protective Services (by whatever name it's called) has no choice, and must investigate, by having the child forcefully restrained, sedated, and subjected to vaginal and rectal examinations to determine the validity of her claims, and once she has made them, and discovers the horror she is about to subject her daughter to, even if she recants, the law doesn't allow them to stop the procedure.
Young people who do that think it's funny, until they discover someone is injured or even killed because of over-aggressive police response. "It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye." Or in this case, Left4Dead, 4Real.
