Full disclosure: I was just about to break the Zaxxon world's record that day when ICJ unplugged the machine and announced, "Zaxxon, Zaxx-off! That's why he got double-punched -- not for unplugging the cabinet, but for making a terrible dad joke.

You guys say that. But both Flack and pinback punched me in the cartoid artery on separate occasions when I brought up the game Zaxxon. Two men, two fists, one artery.

It hurt!

Rest easy! Other people's opinions of games don't piss me off. If everyone agreed as to what the best game was, we would only need one!

I have no interest in, and have never played any of the games/gaming systems mentioned in this thread (except for Fortnite for 30 minutes). Which is the part that was gonna piss me off?
Ah, what a relief. I just assumed you'd say "BAD TAKE" like most of my movie opinions lol

I could never get into Jet Set Radio lol I never got around to trying it back in the day because the graphics didn't really catch my attention. Then last year I had it for free somehow in my Steam library and I tried it but was hit with the same feeling I had when I tried Fortnite. I tried, man.

My main shit on Dreamcast when it first came out was Quake III Arena and Phantasy Star Online because I didn't have a computer that would run the Q3 at the time and I was (and still am) a Quake addict and also Phantasy Star addict. I take it no one here really got into Phantasy Star like I did but man let me tell you; if you were a 12 year old kid who convinced their grandmother to buy them a Genesis as an "early birthday present" and then parents who strangely accepted your birthday request of "I want nothing this year but a Quija board and Phantasy Star II" (which was a whopping 82.99 back then) then ohh brother would you understand why I shit on a lot of the popular games at the time for Phantasy Star Online.

I did Headhunter game Roody mentioned a couple years back. Very interesting and fun game, though I did seem to enjoy Shenmue 1-2 more.

Other games I really liked for this system were:

- Sega Marine Fishing (need to have fishing controller for proper experience)
- Resident Evil - Code name Veronica
- Sonic Adventure 1 and 2
- The House of the Dead 2
- Gundam (Japanese)
- Bomberman Online (featuring the "Bomb O Lympics" LOL)

I bought a Dreamcast to play the podracing game. I had the game for the N64, but I hated that Nintendo controller so much that I pretty much abandoned the system early on. Sega had a lot of unique games and I really liked the Dreamcast. I didn't appreciate Sega's consoles (like the DC and the Genesis) enough when they were in their prime. Jet Grind Radio was like nothing I had ever seen before.

I did get a Dreamcast when new! This is mine from the original release.

I think the idea is to finally get every system.in my office working and connected at all times. Right now everything works, but there is cable swapping. I have a new Ikea stand that should allow for perfection.

If you have a few friends and a few controllers, the Gauntlet games on Dreamcast are pretty fun.

Yes, Skies of Arcadiais another one I have the real discs for. In fact, it was the one I used to test this to make sure it worked. Va va voom!

If you've got someone to play with (and two controllers,) Virtua Tennis and NBA Showtime are a blast. My cousin had a dreamcast and those are the games we played the most. And he had pretty much every game that existed for it (piracy was a thing on the Dreamcast, as playing pirated copies didn't even require you to mod the console.)

My favorites were Headhunter, which has kind of a fun Robocop-esque element of social satire and Skies of Arcadia. I only discovered Headhunter when I was downloading ROMs off the net, though, and my copy dropped some of the in-game movies so it could fit on a CD. Still fun, though.

Headhunter was also released for the PS2, and Skies of Arcadia was later re-released on the Gamecube with some additional content (although they switched out the original music with just some MIDI versions or something). Years later, well after the death of the Gamecube, I got a GC and Skies of Arcadia just to see if I'd still enjoy it. I haven't put much time into it, though. I think one sort of needs to be young and have lots of marijuana for full enjoyment of these things.

The NBA and NFL2K games took up most of my time. Shenmue has an unskippable 45 minute opening video, so that one, too.

Yeah I was wondering the same as Flack. I have 2 Dreamcasts, the expensive broad brand adapter, and waaayyy too many hours spent playing that system heh.

What are your favorite Dreamcast games? Did you have a DC when they first came out, or is this a new system to you?

Good point. I'll turn post editing on for you.

You can also try using the Dreamcast's VGA output. Many games support it, but unfortunately not all.

I think you actually bought an HDMI converter for your dreamcast. Otherwise, where do you get HDMIs converted? Oh, I know what the problem is. The 'r' key is directly above and slightly to the right of the 'd' key.

Jonsey, think about that for a moment; that was why I wanted post editing enabled. It's possible to carefully proofread everything and find you mispeld* a word. Even if you proofread carefully, sometimes you can misspell something, or type a sentence and discover you left some out. What is ironic is, while I was typing this I misspelled "carefuly,"* which was how I originally typed it despite the fact I hunt-and-peck and look at the keyboard, I still mistype things.

* This was intentional.
Christ. OK. You guys want to do this, we'll do this. Two things.

1. I **cannot** get this stupid-ass shitty software to allow for post editing. I have tried and it doesn't work. The amateurs that work on this garbage forum shit did an amateur implementation of permissions. I have worked at companies that didn't know what they were doing with permissions. These guys have no idea.

2. YOU PEOPLE DELETE YOUR POSTS. I'm not going to run a site where, if you try to read an old thread, it's got posts deleted in it like digital potholes. I don't know how to say it without sounding like a jerk, so I haven't said this specific thing for 10 years. But then you all keep asking for it. YOU PEOPLE DELETE YOUR POSTS. I think I have actually, in the 20+ years of running this place, been able to turn it on here or there for a bit of time and guess what? No, guess. Go ahead and guess, you'll never get it. YOU PEOPLE DELETED YOUR POSTS.

"Oh, I don't delete my posts," I can hear some of you saying. That is correct. And I have made attempts to turn post editing on for some of you. Flack, for example. He's not one of you gulag-dwelling post deleters. I have spent half-hours at a time trying to navigate the terrible permissions to allow for editing and it just doesn't work AND I don't care enough to dip my toe into the phpBB community to figure out what hoops need to be jumped through. So I apologize to Flack but not the rest of you.

YOU (except for Flack) PEOPLE DELETE YOUR POSTS.

Nobody gives a shit about post editing anyway. If something is egregious, I'll fix it for you. We live in a world with a global pandemic, war in Ukraine, bee colony disorder and dental dams. Who cares about editing posts?
