Down to $8.99 each!

I bought two more at 9.99 each.

If they hit 4.99 each I'll buy two more.

Dude, I want that exact same style stick but for Commodore and Atari 2600.

When I was about 12 (lol too many stories from that time) I had a Jehovah Witness friend who was the only one I knew that owned an Amiga. David Good from King, NC. I offered to trade him my Nintendo Gameboy for his Sega Master system so that I could FINALLY play Phantasy Star after beating Phantasy Star II for Genesis and both our parents agreed. When my mom took me to his place and I entered his house the very first thing I noticed was an Amiga on the floor of the living room connected to the TV and joysticks just like that style connected to it and wanted some ever since.

So, this is funny. I have had four monitors since trying to get a PCjr going again.

#1 Did a thing where if it was left on for a while and I did a reboot, it would distort the graphics signal. It would not do it on its own, only after a warm boot. This one fell a year ago and conked out and never worked again. I took it to an electronics recycler.

#2 Didn't do that. But it had the cracking. The cracking is really bad. I am going to try to give this one away for free to someone who can fix it.

#3 Had the cracking. I am going to try to fix this one.

#4 Does not have the cracking, but it's doing the same thing that #1 did, in terms of distorting the graphics on a warm boot.

I can live with it, but man, I really want the perfect PCjr monitor in my house!

78 minutes. I think it is okay. It is insane to me that two previous monitors had the exact same issue, but thankfully it does not appear to be a third.

It has been an hour. I think I can call it and say that the monitor just works. I needed this so badly.

I am going to recycle the one that had the dangerous chatter and then keep the one that works for a half hour as something to investigate and repair at some point. Oh dear I needed this.

GOLD STANDARD!

17 minutes. I really need a win here but I still feel it is going to start crackling any second now. I am staring at Lode Runner. Just hoping to get a victory here in life.

Ok, the monitor arrived. It has a beautiful picture. I fired it up at 9:20AM and have the GOLD STANDARD PC game Lode Runner running on it.

The other monitors would start crackling around 12-15 minutes. The last one made it 30 minutes. There is no way this monitor, the third one I am trying, could also have this issue, but honestly, I pretty much expect it to.

I will try to get the other ones fixed if this one does work fine, but it has been absolutely killing me not being able to have the PCjr running while I work and have it do the demo modes for games.

There was a tested working PCjr monitor listed two states over on eBay for $199. I put it on "watch" and the seller offered me $10 off. I bought it. I am kind of mad at myself, but I can't get a tech to come out here and help me with the two that I have.

If a third monitor fails in the same way as the other two then I don't know what to think or say. There is NO WAY that three of them could be bad in the same manner. And if this one works then I will free cycle the other two so that someone can benefit from them.

I am the worst.

This is aggravating me just reading about it. Sounds very frustrating

It is the middle (well, end) of summer and the humidity out here is the highest it's gonna be. I turned the monitor on for the PCjr and it worked for 25 minutes. It was, in the winter, freaking out after 15.

It did not and does not make sense to me that TWO monitors could have the same problem. The lack of humidity did make sense to me. Well, we'll see. I am now going to leave it on and see if it still has a problem for an hour.

OK???

You are discharging anything left in the capacitors. I use a clamp to the frame and a screwdriver on the other end of the wire under the anode cup. So yes, you are simply discharging into the metal frame!
It is bizarre to me that the energy just "goes away" into the frame, but that is what I will do.
My dad did this by using a long screwdriver to touch the frame, less safe id guess but I think he wore gloves
Yeah, I've got a homemade solution for this as well. I may go that route than spend $75 on the proper tool for it, I think.

Quick question I should know the answer to:

So, I am going to pop the anode cup for both of these PCjr monitors. In a video like this, he connects the clips to the frame.

Should the monitor be plugged into the wall? Does the electricity discharge itself into the frame of the monitor and that's it, it's fine?

Right. Both monitors I have were said to be working. They were. They are. For 15 minutes.

I could have sent the last one back but if I can get them fixed, I wanted a spare. We'll see.

I do love Oklahoma FB marketplace. Cut cords aside, your stuff is so much better than ours!
