Ok! Back to talking about my computer.

I purchased a fan for it back in the day when I first got this thing and I didn't get one of those that were re-usable. I bought a broken processor from a guy on eBay and I have to send it back, but I couldn't tell it was broken until I tried to use it. In the piece of paper that he attached with it, he wrote some kind of comment about the motherboard being "for parts." Well, the CPU is for parts as well I guess.

So I had to take the old fan out, and the plastic spikes holding it in place can never really be used again. I bought a new one that has a mounting bracket on the back.... zero idea why I didn't just go this route originally. Anyway. Now I am covered.

Everything is back together. I had a bunch of USB ports on the back of the machine I wasn't using - I was hooking things up with the front ports and sort of plugging and unplugging things. But that is now fixed. It hums. It HUMS.

What's mp3? Is it like spotify?

On the rare occasion I feel like listening to music, it's on my phone with headphones on.

You guys are always playing videos of that YouTube-Face Broad acting like she's hearing "Happy Birthday" for the first time.

I do not listen to music on my computer. I do not "listen" to anything.

You want a $100 audio card or the like because it will make your tunes sound like they ought to. Like the truly should.

You say "though" as if I don't agree. I agree! My last machine was like, a mini-compact-tower-thingy, think a small suitcase on its side, and I knew if anything broke that was it, because there was no way to do anything in there.

Now I HOPE something breaks! And the side is glass, so I can just look in and see what's up! It's great!

Also, I will just say this and run - if you do decide to spring for a $100 audio card, it will make a lot of difference. And you have the room for it!!

It's so nice though. You have room, if you are working on it, to actually set things up logically and naturally. And I am in a weird state with my hard drives where I have too many of them. Instead of one 6TB drive or something I have three that equal that amount. It is one of the few pleasant treats, enough space to put everything in there.

But good grief, nVidia needs to just bite the bullet and make these things external. I shouldn't have to remove the second hard drive bay to fit these grotesque monsters inside of them.

Haha I agree 100%. If anything, I always wanted a big ass case to make my PC look more impressive than it actually is.. plus tons of space allows for better airflow. I've had this big NXT(sic?) case for like 9 years now. Only recently has one of the front USB ports physically failed.

Now I see why my nephew's pc case was the size of a hay bale. I just thought it was for better airflow or something

The funny thing is that a couple years ago, before nvidia ever showed any images related to the new 4000 series cards, this dude made an hilarious April Fools' video about the as of then non-existent 4090:



It was just a joke. Nobody actually expected the card to really consume 1kw or be ridiculously big. A year later it turned out the joke wasn't very far off from what nvidia actually released. It doesn't fit in most cases, and you'd better buy a 1000W (= 1kw) PSU if you don't want power delivery issues.

The video card is basically the size of the computer now, or how it should/could be.

The hell is that, a video card? Freaking huge! And it's over a grand, thats a lot of cash to shell out to play games.

I have a full tower case, it was a dream of mine. Some people dream about a world where people will be judged by the content of their character. Well not me. And of the two of us dreamers, the CIA isn't trying to viciously murder me.

The full tower case was full of full tower things I was not fully using, like a second hard drive cage. I had to take that out so the Zotac 4080 would fit.
