I think, yes, I am going to write Gaben on Monday. I want to live in a world where someone that has been a loyal customer for 2 decades and has bought every piece of hardware they've created can get 10 minutes with a Steam service person to remove the games and keys affected and have new ones issued that I could link with a new Rockstar account.

I would like to live in the reality where that is the case.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind trying L.A. Noire a little more (which is also affected) but May Payne 3 is a legitimately terrible game. But for scene setters, not being able to set scenes sucks.

I wrote this on Mastodon, but I have like a zillion Steam points because I have been buying games there for 20 years. BOY it'd be nice instead of converting those to a "sticker", I could maybe use some of them thar Steam points and have a real conversation with a customer service agent.

Kind of a joke because any company that sells things should, ya know, just have them, but still. I think I will write Gaben about that one.

Just Warez it and tell them to go jump in a lake. When it becomes easier to pirate the stuff than to be legit there's a problem

Steam could help! Surely they will realize what a mess the Rockstar Launcher is, and --
We have reviewed your refund request.

We will not be granting a refund at this time. The date of the purchase exceeds 2 weeks (our refund policy maximum).
Grand Theft Auto V - Playtime: 3 hours 5 minutes

Purchased: Jun 28, 2020 PDT

Requests are considered on a case by case basis and are not typically issued for purchases of released products that are more than 14 days old, or if the purchased product has more than 2 hours of playtime. For in-game items the refund period is 48 hours and the item must not have been consumed, modified, or transferred.

To learn more about the refund process, please visit https://store.steampowered.com/steam_refunds/
Dumbfucks, it could be 1,000 weeks ago, not two. If you're going to let these stupid middleware launchers exist TAKE RESPONSIBILITY WHEN THEY FUCK UP.

Thank you for contacting Rockstar Support.

We have investigated, but have been unable to verify that this request is being made from the owner of the Social Club account where the information was recently changed. Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

If you have any further information we could use to investigate, or if there are any further questions, please let us know so that we can try to help.

Best regards,
Guess what! After giving these stupid pieces of shit exactly what they asked for, they closed the request saying they can't verify it.

Here is my reply.

Guys,

This isn't acceptable. I bought the game through Steam and proved it.
You can send an email yourself to beaver@zombieworld.com and you will instantly see it bounce.
I never owned Red Dead Online so I would have no purchases there. I am pretty sure that I never bought anything through GTA Online but
if I did, the receipt would have gone to an email address that I don't control, which is the point of this entire thing.

If you're asking for the CD key and Steam ID64 then you must have a way to validate them and know that they are correct.

Can you put me in touch with a manager? This is absolutely unacceptable.

Fuck this piece of shit company forever, I will be asking for a refund via Steam.

Right. They could also send an email to beaver@zombieworld.com to see that they will receive a message instantly telling them that the address doesn't exist anymore.

Thank you for contacting Rockstar Support.

Please provide the following information in order to verify ownership of the Social Club account.

Approximately when did you purchase in-game currency for GTA Online or Red Dead Online?
What was the full email address that was originally associated with the account?
When was the account linked to Steam, PSN, Xbox Live, Facebook, etc.? (DD/MM/YYYY)
Once we receive the above information, we will investigate this further and get back to you as soon as possible.

Best regards,
Ah! So what I provided so far was not enough. This means that they think my Steam account may be compromised. If that's the case, shouldn't they be a good partner and notify Steam?

There is an opening cinematic to the game, you are playing the part of Jimmy and your mom married a guy who is now your step-dad and they are sending you to boarding school. This is pretty stock.

Mom and stepdad drop Jimmy off at the gates, moustaches practically twirling. I don't think the writer understands a mother's love for her son, but it was also pretty stock.

"Those.... those .... phonies!! says Jimmy as they speed away, and then the camera jumps right to Jimmy's face and for the next fifty-seven minutes - I am not making this up, those of you that have played Bully will know that I am telling the absolute truth here- for the next 57!!! minutes, Jimmy does a slow wink directly into the camera that is set inches from his face. I thought my computer was locked up until I read that this is how the game starts. At about 30 minutes he begins a crooked smile to go with it, again, his visage staring right at you. At the 58th minute, thank god, because I was not getting it, the game proudly displays only a picture of the novel Catcher in the Rye. And then on minute 59th it displays a red arrow pointing to the book, and then you can play.

I wanted to enjoy a Rockstar game tonight to see if it would work and for almost an hour I saw a poorly rendered kid slowly winking into the camera. I am glad he did though, because honestly, a teenger sent off to school saying the word "phoney" - I wasn't getting it, possibly due to the fact that earlier this evening I removed most of my brain with an ice cream scoop and threw it in the fucking garbage.

Image

I was just kidding you don't play yet - first, the cinematic continues and a woman that works for the school suddenly appears on the screen to tell our Jimmy what to do and how to enter the school proper and the writer made it very subtle that she has a crush on the headmaster. This is kind of stock.

Bully (2008, Steam) is a console port and that means you see stuff like being asked to use "Left Alt" to continue. There is no mouse support because it is a console port. If you set the video settings to be at whatever the mode is when it's 3,000 some odd pixels wide, and then put anti-aliasing on, your screen becomes too big and you can't see what you are doing or manipulating. It doesn't when you chose that resolution. Just when anti-aliasing is selected. I have never seen a game do that before.

I'm really not getting the premise of the game, so I think I may watch the opening cinematic again. See you all Thursday.

The same writer for this masterpiece wrote GTA 3, 4 and 5 but quit and didn't write 6. I'll let you interpret the meaning of that however you wish.
