Well, ICJ, you caught me fair and square. One of the things I appreciate about turn-based strategy games is, instead of lining up that Hellfire Ray towards the undead sentries, you wander off to make dinner, grab another beer, maybe fold some laundry, walk a dog, or what have you. The game will be patiently waiting for you. No need to push onward to the closest save point and there's nobody to kick you from the server for being idle for hours (or days).
