Hey tDarcos, think you talk about Lucid Dreaming? DO YA DOIT?
Lucid Dreaming is a real thing when yoi you can become conscious
inside your dream and at least decide to stop and leave and often control. Part of my brain automatically started doing it automatically 20 years ago as a defense against nightly "waiter dreams" or nightmares just ask your next waiter if they get those, 100%. In my case 100% of the dreams were i start a shift and nothing works you dont know anything or where stuff is your customers leave. 1000s of these for me i think total
Hypnagogic Hallucinations are the exact opposite thing. Your dream starts before you fall asleep. My first was a few min of a hallucination after playing 6 hours of Dune 2000 at RIT. Went to bed, as soon as I relaxed and almost slept all I could see was Dune 2000.
70% of Humans have at least one of these, vast majority are the 1 to 5 min before you fall asleep.
100% of Jolt country Denizens have had like 30
Of the short ones.
Heres what I put on a medicalsurvey.cim comment in a thread about this:
Hi, first time here. Had lots of hypnagogic hallucinations in 20s and 30s from long playing of the same video game but wondering if anyone has had something like this, it was a doozy:
I unfortunately/fortunately I just had a multi hour (6) hypnagogic hallucination. Back story, couldn't sleep (stress, detox, my fault). Id resolve not to drink to sleep but it was too long, had to try. Laid down, started to relax but couldn't sleep. Waited a minute and it looked like I just put on VR goggles feeding me a screen every few secs, first minute real confused. Opened eyes to me as I pulled off my facemask looked to me the view was projected smaller on the mask. Took it all off and the remaining daylight didn't fully blare it out in full sitting up. Assumed I had started dreaming before being asleep laid back down, could see a little past the image. Tried to ignore but this isn't your eyes it's your brain so no. It started with short videos, what less than 30 seconds, first ones I recognized them some I haven't mixed in, then really weird AI generated vids, then pictures, then weird ine if my fav old skool arcade games then a really basic one with trash trucks chasing each other in an arena. Here's where the fun started, I thought why not try controlling by thinking or telling it and find I can control it, sort of. Next came a puzzle, picking up clean toothpicks and putting into a box, then a game of quarters.
Sow I'm actually having a blast not being able to sleep (I can still move) so indulge, I got pictures again, mostly dark with weird robot shapes, sometimes trucks(all stuff I always watch) . This time I tried interacting with a still pic, yep again. Had to learn, started just thinking to crush something, but learned I could say stuff like drop rocks on it or rain on him. One of the last before I decided to give in and take what I needed to sleep was a dark closed with an RV by the edge u just thought it to roll off the edge come back.
Over the way I figured out I could stop the relentless screens by "singing" my favorite songs which I heard sounding like them but if I tried while a screen was up it sounded like my voice and no dice, interesting twist. Also blinking was huge, I could advance slides by blinking.
So after I had that thing I needed to sleep and finally slept it was over but I had about 12 hour lingering symptom which was "awful" I had a very light play list I heard all day and when I slept I every time went right into Lucid Dreaming including being able to sorta fly Airwolf. These dreams were fun, found I could ask for what I wanted, literally kept going (I can't die I'm my lucid dreams). Ended up lucid dreaming 6 hours.
So the dream center in my mind created an elaborate game to teach me that we needed to communicate, like now it's urgent is nice.
Someone here pointed out the content in the hallucination is short, clips, no stories vs Dreams. My personal theory about this is our dreams need access to something in our conscious mind to create coherent stories
Anyhow, turned out to be a blast, though initially confusing, troubling, even scary.
I know Poe and Einstein regularly used a drug to cause this, makes me think. I wonder what the dangers (or benefits) are of intentionally causing this particular kind of trip.
5 Star TRIP REVIEW:
I wish I would've met you SOONER
Now it's a little late
What you could've taught me
I could have saved some ME SOME FEAR
They think that your early HOUR
Was NOT WELL ONBOARDED
For the most part they're right
But look WHAT THEY GODDAMN ALL GOT HORRIBLY WRONG
[Chorus:]
That's why I say hey man, nice TRIP
What a good TRIP man
A man
Has VISUAL CORTEX
Hey man
Have fun
Nice TRIP
Now that the 12 HOUR LINGERING EVERY FAINT LINGERING MUSIC TRACK AND AUTO LUCIDS ARE GONE
And the MY MIND is all clear
YOUR ONBOARDING PROCESS
GABE ME a new kind of fear
You'd fight FOR ME AND THANKS FOR YOUR SERVICE SIR
THEYLL FIND WE were just too strong
They'd THEYD THINK THEY BEAT US BUT WEL'LL WIN THE RACE
AND THEYRE ALWAYS TRANSPARENT TO wrong THOSE YHYVE DONE WRONG
[Chorus]
I wish I would have met you
I wish I would have met you
I'd say
Nice TRIP
