Re: The next project

For some unknown reason Batocera and RetroPie won't run on the Pi500, even though it is advertised as literally being a Pi5 with a keyboard attached. I've had three of them sitting unused still in their boxes for five months now. It's very frustrating.

Try Batocera! I'm having a blast running it my Pi.

In fact I just bought some accessories

And neither one supports the Pi500 yet. I still have three of them sitting in boxes, waiting for someone to update/patch those programs.

Update RetroPi doesn't have an easy option for the Pi 5 so I put Batocera in. Details later

I was reading through the dox and saw all the ways to hook stuff up to these things. It's seriously a tinkerer's workbox. If I was a lot younger I would be all into these things.

Nice! I still use my pi3 in my ArPiCade and my pi4 acts as my “RetroPie” emulation station. I’ve been thinking about getting a new microSD card for the 4 to finally “get into AI more”. Basically I want to see if can make an audible bot that speaks to me in Japanese with a female bot voice like Miku Hatsune.

First OS test. Yep, it's Linux. Liking the hardware, very user friendly. It has a place to solder in a remote on/off switch and just maybe hook the leds back up. Stay tuned kids

I moved everything around again, it's one of the nice things about constant improvement. The big PC was relegated to music recording as it's the fastest machine and I can have multiple inputs because of the SoundBlaster card.

The Magnavox was supposed to get the Minis Forum PC because I only play MAME and NES emulation on it so it doesn't need to be so robust. I hardwired the power switch so I can turn the computer on by pressing the power button on the tv. Well the computer was kinda flakey right out of the box, it's a cheap Chinese all-in-one PC, and modding it made it worse. So I was thinking of putting a Raspberry Pi in there. Based on the power button query in the other thread this might not be a viable solution either. For the sake of content I'll post pix

These are the current connectors to the power controls. Obviously I can only hook them up to an actual motherboard, which I was hoping to avoid, as I don't care to buy another one. I want to get some kind of PC in a box and mod that for my needs

The pc case is so big it won't fit all the way inside the television console, and you know how big those were! Its one of those big -ass pc cases with the glass sides to show off all the blue fans, there's room for five or six hard drives, basically a gamer's case. I got it off my nephew a few years ago cause he was selling it cheap and I needed a new pc.

Since the desktop upstairs is working so nice it's time to fix the basement tv PC. It wasn't hard because everything was just a matter of plugging in the connectors. Now I can hook up the rabbit ears Ethernet again and delete out all the junk but the retro games

The TV pc died. Won't even post but the power supply turns on and the cpu fan runs. Prolly the processor. Im going to look around and maybe put in one of those compact PCs, the kind that screws onto the back of a monitor. Something inexpensive that I can move the power switch wires to the Magnavox buttons

Haha, that's fantastic, 'Vark! I love those little one day projects that add a little bit of style to a room.

I'm tired of my only style being "cluttered". I'm really thinking about boxing up 90% of the stuff in this computer room and redoing everything.

Good old Yar. I hope he gets his long-deserved revenge.
