Anything I accidentally forgot to incinerate? All yours, pallie.

Every parent (hopefully) learns sooner or later that true happiness is when others find their happiness. Forcing what makes you happy on anyone is a sure way to make two people unhappy.

It makes me happy that getting rid of things makes you happy, and it would make me even happier if you gave me your old toys and computer parts and stuff. We would all be happy!

It seems inconceivable to many that what is important to them and gives them joy is not the same as what's important to others and gives them joy.

I try to get rid of stuff as soon as possible. I have no need for, or interest in, yesterday. That is important to me and is a source of joy.

Flack is the opposite.

Instead of feeling sorry for each other, we celebrate the different ways in which we have found joy.

R-- right? Flack? Yes. That is what we do.

Yesterday someone told me they felt sorry for me because I feel so nostalgic about old things and I told them I felt sorry for them that they didn't.

I do. Don’t want to end up in “hurr durr I thought that was covered?!” situation. Especially since I have the cheapest home and auto I can find.

I do ensure that all of my coverages and limits are what I expect. But I do not read the details.

Should I?

"And that's the last time we ever bought a weighted blanked willed with Chinese cats."

My wife bought me a weighted blanket years ago.

When we got Shamus, she decided to rip open a square of the weighted blanket. Trillions of little plastic beads came flying out. Trillions.

Well, 2 and a half years passed, so I brought it out of storage and placed it on the bed.

The dog RAN UPSTAIRS AND PISSED ON IT. Like, immediately. As if the last 2 and a half years hadn't happened, and her hatred for the thing was simply paused.

It was already 50 pounds and I had to haul it up the driveway to the Dumpster. And with a gallon of dog urine soaked through, it was even heavier. The final insult. I'd go ahead and make these things waterproof if I were in charge.

Hah! If he wants book called Monster Mania, let me know!

When I was in elementary school our library had a bunch of Crestwood monster books. I checked them out all the time. I was so scared to touch the picture of Dracula or Godzilla, afraid that they would somehow "get me" through the page, and I loved it. Most of them are on Internet Archive, if you ever want to flip through one with him. They are definitely kid friendly but not 3YO friendly.

In a way, I am glad that Wyatt's mom does not have enough liquid cash for Nintendo Switches and stuff, he gets to be a little kid for a while longer.

I did manage to read to him on Sunday and one of the books we have is "You Should Never Touch a Monster." This time, I asked him to read it to me. He said he did not know how to read. I said to try, and he ended up making up a pretty similar story.

I then pressed the button to the Murphy bed he was on, trapping him in there while I put in a quick 76 hour session of Minecraft on the Switch.

I found a book at the thrift store called Monster Mania. It's an 8x10 paperback, 100 pages and every one in full color. I bought it for my nephew, who is six. When I was six, I loved monsters. I don't think he could actually read this book (it's probably for like, older grade school kids) but I thought his mom might read it to him and he might like looking at all the monsters. Apparently, my nephew only loves Minecraft. I could not get him off his Nintendo Switch long enough to look at the book. When I finally convinced him to pick it up he grabbed it by the cover and flung it up to the ceiling. So, no book for him. The book is now in my bathroom and I will read a page every time I go poop. Everybody wins.

And the media was all over it. Funny how all that hype just went away.
