EA vs Sega article

by Ice Cream Jonsey » Tue Aug 20, 2002 3:35 pm

EA and Sega are both hammering it out in the sports markets for the PS2 -- apparently Madden grabbed more of a market share than NFL 2K2 which speaks to how important marketing is than anything else.

My passions lie more towards the PC side of things, and I really haven't bothered to get a game since Front Page Sports Football 98. (Well, I did get FPS: 99, which is probably the buggiest game of all time, but that's another story.) But the sheer arrogance that EA is running around with is noteworthy. It was, at one point, a goal of mine to work as a programmer for EA but I just get the feeling that the place is absolute corporate hell. Maybe some of the studios have it nice, but it seems as if anyone who is there in San Mateo had either be extremely, irreplaceable talented or come to work with a kevlar vest.
