Also, my little sister beat 30 other people to come in second in the Halo tournament. I would have been eliminated before picking up the controller, I think. SEE I'M SO BAD AT HALO GET IT AH ITS FUNNY!

Bruce, I had a couple words with the Atariage people. Mainly, it was just that I pointed your game out to my sister and said, "My friend wrote that," which made a female Atariage lady perk up and be all like, "Oh yeah?" and then I talked to Atariage dude for a little bit about how I went to CGE with you in Vegas and he was like, yeah, that's where I met him.

So yeah, it wasn't some sort of unexpectedly interesting conversation, but hey, you were talked about.

You know, I bet ROCKER looks a lot like Billy Mitchell.

I went to the MGC this morning (I'm actually going back in an hour or so since my sister is going to enter a Halo tournament).

Anyway, since I now recognize the guy (largely due to Robb pointing him out in Vegas), I got a picture of myself with Billy Mitchell. I guess I could also have had Dwayne Richard in there but I never really researched the guy so was not aware which games he's beaten that I like (although I guess he's some sort of game champ who has beaten like 200 games). He's in the back of the picture anyway.

I think I might go see Yeah Yeah Yeahs instead.

by Debaser » Thu Feb 26, 2004 2:34 pm

Hey, Milwaukee! I could actually drive there. I might flake out again like last year, but if you guys do decide to do this I'll try to get out there, for whatever that's worth to your decision-making process. No way I'd make the Kansas City thing, though.

by Roody_Yogurt » Wed Feb 25, 2004 5:22 pm

Hehe, well yeah, the Midwest Classic thing I posted a link to is in Brookfield, a suburb of Milwaukee, this year (they're all in the Milwaukee area).

Of course, it'd be cool to have you but I know you were considering coming for Metalfest, too, and I doubt you'd want to come twice and I'd imagine Metalfest would take precedence.

Here is the problem I currently have:

I get four weeks' vacation each year. One week is used for Christmas. Another will probably be used as Da King is getting married and I'm the BEST MAN and it's my obligation to tear it up for a week with him.

That leaves two weeks. I want to spend a week somewhere on the planet with my sweetie, but shhhh! Don't tell her.

That leaves one week. The "miscellaneous" week. For instance, when Parrish finally realizes that South Carolina is so boring that it's going to give him diabetes (edit: more diabetes) and he comes out to live in Colorado for a few months, I want to be able to take a couple days off work and hang out with the man and introduce him to Colorado Proper. That sort of thing.

...

... OK, actually, shit. This was a response to the taking off of a week and going to Kansas City for the Apple II conference, now that I re-read it. MILWAUKEE YOU SAY? Well, crikey, lemme look into this.

It is so not gay enough.

Well, seriously, even though it's half the distance to Vegas, you'd probably find better tickets to Vegas because hey, it's Vegas.

And it's nowhere near as big as the Vegas thing, although the pinball enthusiasts seem pretty cool and they do get a handful of arcade games in there.

I'm not seriously promoting this thing as I'd feel too bad if anyone was disappointed (although I'd like to believe that I could show everyone the best ways to get drunk in Milwaukee), but hey, I'll be going to it.

by Worm » Tue Feb 24, 2004 10:07 pm

Yea, that sounds better Roody. It's too late to go on map quest, but that isn't a fuck load far away from PA is it?

AND:

Is going to Las Vegas just because it is Vegas not gay enough or something?

Of course, my vote is for http://www.midwestgamingclassic.com/ .

O' course, the conference is $200 all by itself. With a single (dorm) room and (dorm cafeteria) meals it's $330. With a roommate, it's $265 each.

Still, cheaper than flying to Las Vegas. Of course, *you* drove....But what did we spend there? About $200 on accomodations and $25 on the tickets, right, so, well, OK, it's $100 more than Las Vegas before transportation costs are figured in.

On the down side, they probably don't have plastic footballs full of beer or the Fremont Street Experience at Avila University. On the plus side, they probably don't have plastic footballs full of beer or the Fremont Street Experience at Avila University.

I'm leaning towards going, myself.

Pretty much.

I'm sure KC has strippers. And it does have one of the world's best barbecue joints. According to Calvin Trillin, Arthur Bryant's isn't just the best barbecue in the world, it is the best restaurant in the world.

There are, actually, a few casinos in KC, or, well, moored in the Missouri River in and near KC.

July 20-25. Take the week off work, round it out with a trip to St. Louis, it'd be perfect.

GOD DAMN THEM.

It's an Apple II, more or less, conference.

It's in Kansas City which is conveniently located on I-70 about a third of the way from St. Louis to Denver.
Hmm... well, I do have a friend in Kansas City who played electric guitar in the seminal 90s progressive rock / pop band "Beaver"...

Yeah, we'd have to bring our own entertainment
I'm not sure, but I think you're telling us all that we have to bring our own blackjack dealers, chips and strippers.

=(

Imagine the fun we'd have with a couple cases of hard liquor and a bunch of free time. Plus Apple IIs. Plus, if I went, and if the Denver Contingent (including Pinner?) went, then ICJ could drive out to St. Louis afterwards and buy my Bubble Bobble and take it home with him.
I'd be more inclined to go if the Apple II disk drive were a little smarter. Kidding.

I'd totally buy that Bubble Bobble mofo.

What does everyone else think?

AAAARGH.

CGE2K4 is in San Jose, not Las Vegas.

That bites.

I don't especially want to go to Nerdville. I worked there often enough during the dotcom boom.

I have another suggestion:

And people like Bruce and Vitriola flipping through our huge Pokemon decks of hooker cards to chip in to rent you the one you want.

And Roody doing whatever he does to corrupt the youth of America.

"Dirty needles and cheap cocaine." God, I love the Drive-By Truckers.
