I hope we have chili tonight.

Ben, you're my friend and a credit to this board. Thanks for posting and just for... you know, being you.

1. Nice double-post there, slick.

2. What's with the attitude, all of a sudden? Your boyfriend's supposed to be the ONLINE PRICK LORD, while you play "good cop" to his "bad douchebag". Either HELP OUT, or get in the kitchen and start cookin' up a nice meal for your MAN, like a woman SHOULD.

Then you probably should have framed the original question to include details.

A brief mention in the last sentence of the 4th page of the next DAoC handbook would also have sufficed.

Yeah, me too. I liked how they just glossed over the fact that people playing Lineage kill people. I guess it's just an intense game, being about lineage and everything. If you come from a culture where everyone looks exactly the same, I guess playing an on-line game that is self-described as being about varying genetic trees, you probably take it rather seriously.

It's mandated that if you're a member of the press, you HAVE to refer gamers and game developers as "pudgy" at some point, because magazine writers are often some of the fittest and well-toned hard-bodies around.

Link.

Link.

But yeah. Some guy went nuts in the Korean MMORPG "Lineage" and killed someone in real life due to in-game actions.

So, were you able to scrounge up a little more information on the topic at hand, or did you spend your whole morning coming up with that blistering retort?

I'm not a dork.

------> YOU are.

(Ha ha ha ha ha.... Zing, Herr Sysopereuffen, Zing ZingZing.)

Okay, how about homicides indirectly related to dorky BBSes with Sysops who think running a decent place consists of not posting, not completing video games, NOT being any good at Q*Bert or Crystal Castles, and NOT ANSWERING PEOPLE'S QUESTIONS when they ask them, even if they only asked them to stir up some interesting conversation on the BBS which the Sysop continues to ignore and neglect?

Did THAT happen in Korea too?

by Ice Cream Jonsey » Sun Mar 07, 2004 9:37 pm

This DID happen in Korea. It's not an urban legend. It's true, and was reported on sometime in 2002.

I just got home and am about to crash, so I am not going to look it up right now, as I have very little to go on other than keywords based in this thread. I realize that you're just going to freak out with frothing indignation that I didn't drop everything and meticulously research this for you, but frankly, you're kind of a fucking asshole and I'm sick of your shit. Why don't you just let shit go? Huh? Maybe? Just let it go. I'll get to it in the morning.

Asshole.

I am curious if anyone has any knowledge of a real-life murder being committed as an indirect result of something that took place in a MMORPG (or whatever they're called these days). Examples are:

1. Somebody finds out who the GO GO GOOD TEAM (or one of his type) is, goes crazy, finds him and beats him to death.

2. Somebody hanging out in a "chatty" part of the game world lures someone to their house under the guise of a date or something, and then rapes and murders them.

3. Those sorts of things.

Why? Oh...

...just curious.
