The cabinet design has a sliding keyboard tray in it, but I also intend to have AdvanceMENU or something providing a GUI front end. The trackball and fire buttons on the control deck are mapped to mouse and mouse buttons, so if I don't need to type anything I can just use those to get around the OS.

Well, things like Pac-Man, it runs at the right frequency but doesn't use all of each scanline, so you end up with something like a 19" vertical monitor.

Or was that not what you meant?

Only runs at 800x600 max, though. And that's unsupported. So it might not be the ultimate gaming rig.

I found my Radeon 7500 VE All-in-Wonder for $59, half of what NewEgg wanted for it. I'm so proud. NCIA Computer Center:http://center.ncia.net/

What? Ahh, fuck.
I wasn't actually sure whether it was Video Games or Retro Gaming, but it had nothing to do with curry, so it ended up here.

I think so; I did get the Clear Trackball With Undermount Lighting option on the SlikStik. and I'm pretty sure they use Happ for everything. I kinda wish I'd gotten a custom two-trackball option, but Amy says she doesn't mind playing Marble Madness with a joystick, and it would have necessitated a redesign of the control deck (which would have added about $100 to the cost).

Whoa! Nice.

Come to think of it, building a cabinet like that might be a better use of one's time than just going out and getting a single Ms. Pac-Man game, like I had considered.

You could pretty much put PC games on the thing as well, which would make it the ultimate gaming system. ($470 for a 27" monitor is quite reasonable.)

Taxes weren't as bad as I'd feared, so I've gone ahead and bought everything but the computer for the MAME cabinet.

I'm using the MameRoom Ultimate Arcade II as the plan:

I'm using a SlikStik Quad as my control deck:

And for the display? Why, a Wells-Gardner D9200 27":

I'm flying First Class here. In fact, Virgin Atlantic First Class With Hot Tub, except that I don't think they have hot and cold running fellatio, which is pretty much the equivalent of this MAME cabinet.
