Long and the short of it:

Girl gets taken on August 30th. Police do nothing,even after repeated badgering from the mom. September 6th the girl logs into a poetry site which the mother finds, but the police won't check it out. She has to go to a third-party cevillian place who track down the IP and contact the police with the information, at which point they use their lightning-quick efficiency to bust down this guy's door--on the 12th. They didn't check the computer, what the fuck? If these fucking douchbags checked the computer right away she coud have been returned in too days, if they were at all compitant they could have tracked down the IP from the poetry website by the 8th at the latest. It's not as though finding her was particularly difficult, I probably could have done it by myself when I was 14 years old. But it doesn't stop there; this dickhead cop Dave Trimble is trying to cover up his own inneptitude by blaming... the... victem. Yes, he's pointing at a 14-year-old girl who's been raped for two weeks straight, with Bi-polar and Aspergers, and saying "She brought it all on herself." He hasn't stopped there; he's blaming the third-party website, blaming the mother, blaming their "firewalls," blaming absolutely everyone except himself. Totally pathetic.
