The lava lamp has been removed, for those of you keeping score.

The fake ones -- his -- apparently do not. You only have to worry about flooding.

I have a "spider plant" at work. I have a window! Never had a window before.

No pictures, without the lava lamp and cyan bat signal what's the point?

Do palm trees have any special needs to be kept indoors? Light? Heat? Humidity? Are they expensive?

34 in one month!

I am expecting no party. Nobody I know deserves to enjoy my apartment. You have all been horrible to me for many years.

I think Pinback is expecting to have a fraternity party. How old are you? 30 something?

Okay, this will bring this thread to a close. Everything has now been set up how I originally envisioned it, and then some. Today's last touch was putting in more of the lighting.

These are the final results:

Depends. If the beach music is on, it simulates mist cascading off of the crashing waves.

If the reggae's on, it simulates everyone shmokin' weed.

Disable fog machine, not smoke alarm. You would really want to have a smoke alarm. Unless you remove battery, use fog machine, and replace battery in alarm after the fog festivities.

Why is a fog machine in your apartment? I suppose there is a reason, but am not sure.

THIS TOPIC IS OFFICIALLY HOT!

You could kill someone in that house and they wouldn't feel too bad about it being the last thing they saw.

Beautiful.

Of course, what apartment is complete without an electric flickering mushroom lamp?

(I realize that this breaks with the "tropical" theme. Let's just call it a little "inside joke" for all my peeps over at sonowthen.net.)

More new stuff!

I got tired of buying palm trees, so I bought MIRRORS, which immediately DOUBLE the number of palm trees!

Image

More importantly, though, I was able to achieve something close to that "water" effect, by doing the following:

1. Buy little gooseneck desk lamps.
2. Put blue lights in them.
3. Put them on the floor and aim them up at the palm trees.
4. Put little desk fans under the tree to make the fronds sway.

Instant AWESOME:
