b) If an 18 year old can get a credit card, he/she should. You need to build up your credit history so you can do things like buy cars and houses and the such later in life. The earlier you can show that you're responsible with credit, the better off you are.
I learned the hard way at an early age - fucked up my credit when I was 21 and had to wait til I was 28 yrs old until the last bad item came off. I think a credit card in the hands of someone that young is dangerous. Learn to live on a cash-only budget for awhile so you learn to appreciate what it's like to manage finances.

HEY! I was wondering why the geezer is suggesting that eighteen year olds get credit cards the second they can!
a) I do not know how old any of you guys are (except for Jonsey)

b) If an 18 year old can get a credit card, he/she should. You need to build up your credit history so you can do things like buy cars and houses and the such later in life. The earlier you can show that you're responsible with credit, the better off you are.

Not only do I pay off my card in full each month (and have been doing so for many years now) so they don't make dime one off of me, but the one card I use gives me 2% back towards the purchase of ANY car. So far, I've received about $1400 in FREE CA$$$$H from 'em for our two cars.

I thank you (and the other folks in this world who constantly run a balance) for helping pay for my vehicles.

No, but if the number gets stolen, your bank account gets drained.

You're better off getting a credit card from a company that offers free virtual credit card numbers (like Citibank). They'll give you a number that only works for one charge, and expires in a month. Works great...I've been using them for a few years now.

Is it not possible, when ordering from, say, yahoo store, to use a debbit card in place of a credit card? And if so, how would this be done? I do not believe tey have expiration dates.
