You've got about, hooooooooooooo, seven months to play it before it's no longer the best game I've ever done. Seven months!

(riiiing .... riiiiiing ..... )

Thank you very much. I can't tell you how much I appreciate this kind of thing. You rock.

I think the problem that I encountered is that it doesn't always take the same number of shots to knock someone out. So it's possible to use up all 5 shots between Neve, the Doc's computer, and the Doc, and not have the one left over for the chandelier.

So yeah, that would be great if you made a new release of the game with a way to either throw something at the chandelier ( or find another pak maybe??).
Yeah, the random combat is filled with pitfalls. I see in a later post that you were able to get farther and presumably finish the game (the 1.04 version should be a lot easier in that regard: almost all the bug fixes were in the endgame) so that makes me very happy.

What I am going to do is upload a 1.05 fix when I re-stock Feelies.org with more copies of the game. I like the DVD case I did for Necrotic Drift, and making a "Championship Edition"* or something of Fallacy of Dawn, as a physical object, is a goal of mine for May.

*It was Lode Runner that had the "Championship Edition" right? I'd go with "Game of the Year" edition, but I lost out to All Roads, a fine game by a fine author. I need an adjective for "edition" that doesn't actually violate any pre-existing restraints.

Whatever. You're getting in the way of my leering at dystopia, "ASL???"

I would like to point out that there are major spoilers in this thread, for one who hasn't been assed to play the game through yet.

You can also save ammo by going around sissy-slapping people with >hit rather than >shoot--you've got enough health recharges that it doesn't really matter.

heh, nevermind!

I went back and redid the whole prison thing... I found out that I must have messed up and wasted a shot somewhere the last time. I got to have the one last shot after neve and the doc this time and I got to shoot the chandelier.

anyway, thanks for your help!

Hey, great game, man. I've played a lot of other IF games, and this is by far my favorite. (I'm a girl gamer btw).

heh, I have 4 different saves for the game. Unfortunately the only one I have before I shoot Neve is one before I make the disc in the internet cafe that I give to Dapper.

I found Neve's cannon after I shot her, but its empty. (Is there a way to fill it???)

I think the problem that I encountered is that it doesn't always take the same number of shots to knock someone out. So it's possible to use up all 5 shots between Neve, the Doc's computer, and the Doc, and not have the one left over for the chandelier.

thanks a bunch!!

Also, Neve's gun should be accessible if she shoots at you once with it. Looking at the source, the gun (a "shock cannon") only enters the game if she shoots you with it.

I'll almost definitely release a fix for the game that allows you to throw something at the chandelier. In the meantime, please tell me if you still have a save game before Neve was disabled and before the five shots on the energy pistol were used up. :)

by Ice Cream Jonsey » Thu Apr 26, 2007 2:44 pm

Ok, so I am in the reception room with the two thugs. I can't shoot them because the 5 shots from the pak that I put in the pistol were used to kill Neve, Doc's computer, and Doc.

So I realize that taking the different color ree pill restores my health when the thugs are hitting me. But I can not get past this room. I try beating the crap out of the thugs, and I die every time. I also have tried to unlock the outside door, and it doesn't work.

How do I kill the thugs without a gun??
You can shoot the chandelier and have it knock the two thugs out. But yes, that requires one final shot in the gun. Let me see if there is another way to get ammo once you fill those other guys with it. I should have made it so that you can throw the gun at the chandelier to achieve the same effect if you're out.

I'm replaying Fallacy of Dawn again when I want to appear like I'm working in my office. :)

Now, I have never been able to find Leandra. neither have I been able to find the guy to whom the package (from the courier) must be delivered. Any hints would be welcome.

Right, nwo I remember hte bit about hte prod and me being rather annoyed that you couldn't take it. Just as long as there is a weapon on him at all.

I have as much experience with guns as Delarion Yar and would be just as likely to commit one of your "headshots."

Also, as a wise DM once said, "If you allow critical hits against monsters, the monsters will be allowed critical hits against you." If you had instant headshots in an IF game there would be open rioting in the streets. Granted, 300 men and Emily Short and over a distance of several thousand miles, but rioting none the less!

The serial cable scene is still in the game, though it's also bypassable. I also thought you should be able to strangle the thug with the thing, and also--a security guard with no gun? What the fuck?
Yeah, you can strangle the guard. The guard does not have a gun, but has an electric prodding stick. Not that I am an expert on prisons or anything, but sometimes they do not arm the officers so that the inmates can not steal the guns of the officers.

However, I just noticed that the prod is not available after the guard is defeated, which I intend to fix.

by Lysander » Fri Oct 14, 2005 7:52 pm

I, also, made a point of shooting the living fuck out of McCormic as soon as I saw him so as not to let him shoot my buddy there. I think that's what most people will do, honestly. As such, I didn't even konw there was another part to get to. I also never rode the bus so I didn't know about the creepy pedophile dude.

One thing that really irritated me about hte McCormic thing was that shooting him before he shot the guy didn't count as an insta-kill. Why wouldn't it? I have hte drop on him and the time to aim for a headshot. Also, talking to him (if I recall) won't haved him notice me so he'll continue with the scene of robbing the store. I'm a bit unsure on that point though, I just remember htat something about it struck me as wrong.

I dont' really think it's very fair of you to lock a section of the game off to people who try to save peoples' lives. Maybe give McCormic a note or something that says where he's going? IT kind of makes sense, twitchy as he is, taht he'd need to write that kind of shit down. Then you could find your way over there yourself.

Thanks. I managed to get out of the robotics shop.

Now, how do I find Leandra? I've been to Loome street, but I can't seem to find her residence. I've tried the abandoned townhouse, but I can't unlock the door.

Any hints as to where I can find her?

by Roody_Yogurt » Sat Oct 08, 2005 8:02 pm

Try "out" or "exit", maybe.

by Lady Strange » Sat Oct 08, 2005 11:50 am

I can't leave the robotics shop after defeating Failed Romero. I've tried the N, S, E, W directions and nothing happened. i tried the command "leave shop" but nothing happened either.

I replayed the game sans the romero part and am now stuck on the 1st floor of the prison buiding. I have a pistol, neve's keypass, a cyan ree pill, a magenta ree pill, a cannon. I can't seem to open the receptionist's door. Is there a key somewhere that I missed?

by Worm » Wed May 04, 2005 1:32 pm

I thought you strangled the guard with the serial cable.

Thanks, Admiral Scorez was the 10 point missing to reach a final score of 100. Also the only one that Delarion really has to kill to save lives. All others are left unconscious, but not dead. (Asimov's laws?)
Oh, hey, is he dead? I guess getting flattened by a city bus would do that. I don't know if I ever expressed my intent that Yar didn't mean to kill anybody, it's just that sometimes buses don't have adjustable power levels.

So, one last question: Is there anything I can do with the serial cable that Dapper brings me? Or is the cable just there to make the point that Delarion does not want to leave anything except an upper-decker ?
I think you can use it to plug into the security system in the jail cell. I'll take a look tonight and see if that's right or if it became a "deleted scene" (literally). It was definitely in the design doc.
