but you'd be surprised at what it can remove. Also, the secret for removing pen stains from anything is hairspray.
Nail polish remover was originally just acetone, and that's good at dissolving/removing quite a few things. I think there are nail polish removers based on more "environmentally friendly" things now though...the stuff the wife has is definitely not acetone.

There's stuff called "Goof Off" that'll take just about anything off, including dried latex paint. It's a combination of some particularly nasty chemicals (I think tolulene and xylene are two of them), but it works wonders.

Soak, wipe with rougher scrubbie, ammonia or nail polish remover does wonders. Yes, I know guys do not have that laying around, but you'd be surprised at what it can remove. Also, the secret for removing pen stains from anything is hairspray.
