They release a moist secretion that helps them get the shed off, which is why it comes off in one piece usually, but this one hasn't shed in a couple weeks. Is it using outward pressure on the narrow side of the cage to keep itself up while the head end explores the long side? I do not know, but I DO know that when she finally fell down, she did so with resounding plop and pretended she meant to do it.
