Regarding today's closing of the forums on Old Man Murray:
The real question would be.
Why would I leave them up?
And who are you people? I know about 3 of you, who are the rest?
What is caltrops? sb you mentioned it in your email to me, but you didn't mention what it is. If anyone has a new forum they want to meet at, let me know i will briefly put up a link on omm so like people can find it.
But OMM forums are not OMM. I think the forums used to be funny, now they are just a sad soap opera filled with little people who i do not know and do not care to know but yet think they have some right I am supposed to give them, some need to fulfil for them, and that I give a fuck.
While the site is not up, the forums do not make a good representation of OMM. Once the site is back, I think I have learned a valuable lesson of doing something for people and not expecting anything in return, don't do it. So pick a new home, the omm forums are gone forever. I have too many things going on in my life to ever play dad to such a rotten bunch of children.
Feel free to be disappointed in me...
Chet
Chet was, of course, one of the masterminds behind Old Man Murray and one of the funniest writers I have ever read in my entire life -- in any media. Hell, JC is run from POE Hosting's servers, which is a company that Chet created. I have an enormous amount of respect for the man, and while I am deeply saddened by his decision to pull the plug on the OMM forums, I will not criticise it, as I can only imagine the enormous amount of shit that he has had to wade through because of it.
That being said, I am guessing that having to deal with so many assholes made it not worth his time. In my experience, I have run this BBS (which is pretty much a quiet little forum visited by around a dozen or so guys and girls who know each other on-line) and my old dial-up board, which was pretty much alien to the entire experience of running a forum on the internet.
It is rare that something on the internet causes me to really feel a sense of sadness, but this is one of those times. The OMM forums were constantly filled with some of the best and funniest content I have ever seen, and I tip my virtual cap to their memory.
