I went back and played the TextFire games including Will the Real Marjorie Hopkirk Please Stand Up, the only Hugo game among them. It' the buggiest TextFire game and I though, "This isn't right."
So, I reverse engineered the game to fix the bugs and I plan to add some new ways to kill her. All I have left before going forward with my "improvements" are a burn daemon and fixing my syntax.
I'll post the code once I'm done, I'll comment anywhere I think may be helpful. There were a few moments I wondered how the hell I'd replicate an effect, but they passed. This is really what got me off my ass to learn Hugo.
I hope my code can help someone else, but what I'm really asking for is contact information for the game's original author, Neil James Brown, just to tell him, see if he minds, and optimization tips.
Look forward to it, or INSERT THREAT.
