Dude, I'm sorry. I'll fix that. I will probably put it back into JC proper, as I'm considering even removing my own non-text game reviews from RFTK going forward.

It might just not be recognizing the line break character you are using in the files. I uploaded a .txt file to googleDocs and it removed all the line breaks, fine, whatever. I did all my editing and re-saved it as text and opened it back up in Notepad, the line breaks were still fucked. Opened it up in WordPad and it showed up fine. Why? Unicode line breaks. Resaved it as text in WordPad and it opened up in Notepad just fine. This might be a similar kind of thing. Those files are pretty old so they might be using ANCI charsets. Either that, or it refuses to accept line breaks unless it's in the form of <BR> in which case you could probably do a find/replace job on them. Probably. Iunno!

Wordpress will never buy you a cold beer at your local watering hole. Beware.

There is an "advanced menu," which is originally hidden, and when unhidden, happens to have every goddamn thing I care about in it. So Wordpress and I might be friends after all.

It completely ignores any request on my part for two line breaks, to separate questions and Bruce's reply.

Well you know what, fuck this, Wordpress: I'm removing my pants. We'll continue and I'll appreciate you not staring at the Deimos-sized bulge. It could have been yours and throbbing, now you'll just have to awkwardly look around it.

Eyes up here, Wordpress.

I can't believe how fucking broken the text editor is on Wordpress. Holy shit. I did some work for a fantasy football website and had forgotten how fucking shitty this is.

I grant you that most people are not trying to copy and paste shit to their blogs, but how it handles new lines is completely broken! What a fucking pain in the ass.

There are 243 files that make up RFTK and I would like to spend maybe a minute per file, in order to get this done this weekend. I'm entering hour #2 on the second file, which is an interview with One of the Bruces.

I am uploading Wordpress to JC right now in the hopes of having RFTK converted over by the end of the month.

Shiiiit, dawg. I'd be up for helping with that. I am a content submitting machine!

OK, it's official. There was a comment I wanted to respond to on RFTK about Borrowed Time, but putting comments up means that I have to open the source file, copy the e-mail text over, write my reply and upload it back to the server. What a mess. It's not working.

I'll give this Wordpress thing a go if it can do comments with a captcha that works. If it's shitty, like phpBB, then I won't fucking bother.

I could then give the login info out to Ben, Bryan and whoever else would make a good, new Trotting Krip and the pain of updating, which is 100% of why I don't update the site, can be eliminated.

Everyone on earth tells me "use WordPress." (I don't, because I'm lazy.)

Blog software - tell me about it

by Ice Cream Jonsey » Fri Nov 17, 2006 6:19 pm

Having this BBS, I've never had to install "Blog" software. However, the Trotting Krips reviews are in like four different formats and I would like them to be in the same format. I would also like to be able to "skin" the content like I would this shitty BBS software.

Anyone have advice on what software to use? I'm obviously not going to spend any money on it. What I'd like is to be able to fill in the reviews with dates in the past (like the original date the review was written) but it's no big deal. I guess I want a good spam guard for comments, too. I still get lots of mail from the RFTK site, but I do not have the time to post it properly.

Thanks in advance!
