Here's the deal, WORM.
You can't put a captcha into phpbb for people who register. Spammers bypass it and input shit directly into the registration form. Now, I know you are thinking, "WTF?" Me, too.
You CAN put an effective captcha in for guest posts, though. That works great. I wish I had a cool word to input, but I feel the current one lets people enter it quickly using two fingers. And I've got something else you can enter quickly with two fingers.
I could make it so that I had to approve registrations, but I barely have time to post on here, much less approve people. We get one good new user a month -- it was Lupus Yonderboy previously -- and I'd hate for that new user to not be able to post immediately. I'd hate it with my whole mouth.
Besides, my secret co-sysop does a wonderful job killing the links and it fills me with joy when he does it. He's awesome.
