It was a sequel in every sense, and a wonderful one. The things I thought needed improving through JTRH were improved, story elements were amped up to provide a kind of 'down time' between the puzzles, and it continues a very interesting story which was laid down in JTRH.
I messed up my save game by importing the stuff from my TCB demo manually. The reason I recommend JTRH's demo over TCB, is because TCB's demo is very story based, and you'll get bored with it if you don't have the investment that JTRH creates.
The DROD series represents excellence. You should grab the demo for JTRH right now and play it, buy it, and finish it. Then you should buy TCB (no demo), and finish it.
