Like, meaning right now? At this instant? She is in South America last I heard so: probably.

... All right, FoD packs! Oh yeah!

Forgot to mention: I solved the Unix-crashing issue. Some d-bag saw it three years ago and posted on the IF Ratings site that the game, "Quits on launch" but never mentioned it elsewhere or what OS he was on. Not that it's that guy's responsibility, but Jesus Christ, here we have someone that downloaded the game, tried to play it, saw that it crashed and immediately assumed:

1) That everyone else playing it was making shit up. That Fallacy of Dawn was a lie of Roswellesque proportions

2) That he needed to go running off to the IF Ratings site to give the game the poor rating it so richly deserved, instead of expending equal effort to tell me, where I could have fixed it.

I swear, give any community anonymity and everyone becomes a sheer bastard.

So yeah, the game shouldn't crash on Linux any longer. The reason was because I was using the character #241 (referenced as such) to display health and ree levels. Instead, I switched to using color blocks.

Of course, the color blocks for health and ree don't line up perfectly on Windows. They are two pixels off. They match up perfectly on Limux. Good grief.

Anyway, I am playing through the thing on Linux and making record files so I can unit test the thing and ensure quality. I'm also trying to make sure that the game has enough "state," as Bruce put it six years ago. So that characters do not reference stuff they haven't seen. I think I solved it years ago, but being this long away from the game should ensure things.

(Then I need to tell the Home of the Underdogs to update their version.)

Shouldn't take more than a night to do this, the issue is just getting a night with nothing else going on. By this weekend, I hope.

I dated him for 8 months, ya think? One of them had been obviously cut down to fit the frame. I also have some very nice shots of the girl you were dating at the time.

It would be cool to get a shot of the arcade location in there -- maybe replace the gun with it, if you're going to get rid of the gun?
Great idea. I'm going to take a pic of my downstairs area, where there are some arcade games, and place Delarion in front of it. That would totally work and help sell the idea of what the game is about. Excellent! Thank you.

I also ended up writing a large PM to you about the whole Feelies thing. I do have your e-mail address and should have probably sent it directly there. Either way, thanks for hanging in there on Feelies and I do hope to have this thing ready to go before too much longer.

Oh yeah. I was thinking of Necrotic Drift, sorry.

The front graphic, meaning, right below the game's title? Delarion Yar?

by hygraed » Mon Aug 20, 2007 11:13 am

Who is that in the middle of the front graphic? I don't remember them being in the game at all.

Only if you fix "somewhere" to be one word instead of two, so you don't make me look like an illiterate jackass.

I am also going to do the following, based on some received feedback:

1) Remove the gun graphic on the back of the box.
2) Change the font that the quotes use. Having the names of the person I am quoting in that arcade font is OK, but the words themselves could be more readable.
3) I would love to get the text on the front of the box, below the picture of the main characters, justified left and right, so it looks all boxy. I can't remember what that justification is called, but Photoshop 7 doesn't support it natively. Argh.

by Ice Cream Jonsey » Sun Aug 19, 2007 10:04 pm

Oh, things I intend to do:

1) Check with Emily, Eric, Adam and Ben to make sure that it's OK to use their quote on the DVD cover.

2) Put the frigging game's name along the spine. Whoops!

FEEDBACK REQUEST!

I put together a possible DVD slip case for Fallacy of Dawn. The goal is to get it made and make it available through Feelies.org.

Please tell me how the following can be improved:

Pic.

... Keeping in mind that it is impossible for me to not only get photographs of most of the people who were in the game, but they look absolutely nothing like they did, seeing how I used pictures that were 4-5 years old when I created the game in 2001. I definitely can't go back in time and get a group picture of Clorinda, Brian and my brother or anything. I tried to work around it best I could, but you know how it goes.

(And when I make a box for Cryptozookeeper, I definitely will not have it look anything like the FoD / Necrotic Drift slip cases. Promise! We'll do something new.)

I will buy one of these new-fangled versions myself, as well. And I will be very pleased, after the batch reaches me, with the instantaneous shipping when I hand one of the packets to myself . Yeah, it's slow going, but I am getting there. This WILL be back in stock on Feelies as soon as I can get the Linux bug fixed.

Rephasia (or: ree) is the drug Delarion Yar is addicted to.
