Here's the other thing that I hate about Family Guy, which is really not about the show: there is a very vocal majority of people that dismiss it because it's stupid and rips off the Simpsons. Here's my problem with that.

There are elements of the Simpsons taken from the Flintstones. Which is fine - nobody has a problem with it, because the Flintstones was a cartoon people watched in the 60s (or whenever the fuck it was on) and was long gone before the Simpsons started. I just find it a little grating to rag on Family Guy for being too much like the Simpsons when the fucking Simpsons has been on for twenty years. In any normal universe the Simpsons would have gone eight seasons and been off the air for the last twelve years. Family Guy suddenly doesn't feel so unfresh now, does it? Fuckers.

...

This has nothing to do with the Family Guy pinball game, which is good. But then the tables the FG pin designer created are like Twilight Zone, Addams Family, Earthshaker and motherfuckin' Banzai Run, which are all great games. He could make an award-winning pinball table based on the theme of People Who Have Left Jolt Country Forever.

But it IS awesome, once you get by some of the obnoxious audio. They should make that a flipper option when you put the quarters in. SOUND EFFECTS Y/N? And then the right flipper is "no" but because they are Family Guy, if you select "no," you have to sit through an excruciating musical number before playing.

know what turns me away from the game even before I drop a quarter? That non-painted photo backglasss. Something that looks like a sticker overlay instead of real silkscreen paint. Just looks cheap and uninviting like a bad polyester pair of pants. Probably why I like the older tables better. That and the obscene scoring numbers. I wonder if pinball manufacturers even make tables that do not have a movie or TV tie-in
anymore. I bet they do, I just haven't looked real hard.

Not to mention that the South Park table fucking rules as well.

I absolutely do not want to criticize a pinball table before playing it. So a TV show is not my "thing" -- I didn't think the Addams Family movie (or TV show) was that good, but it's an amazing pinball game. And Wheel of Fortune will probably attract people that normally don't play pinball. So these are all good things! In fact, I put a couple bucks into the recent Spider-Man table and it really didn't grab me. (And I am a fan of the character Spider-Man.) So a theme is no indication of quality, not at all.

I'm looking forward to trying it. Looks like it will be released in November.
