Okay, what is this nonsense about using your phone on it? Do I need a special phone?

Says 4 hours. I'd simply like a ten pound notebook that had a 20 hour battery life honestly.

A deal at Newegg

Newegg has a combo deal I saw in my email this morning on EEE. You may want to check it out. Looks like they throw in some memory and even have a nice gay pink color for Valentines day. You could get a pair of pink panties and a pink EEE pc and really fricken strut your stuff on V day.

Yeah, I can't find the 8g model on newegg. Right now I'm gonna wait on the Cloudbook's release and see what reviews it gets. I totally don't want to pay up 100 bucks for a reasonable amount of storage.

I also might try to tough it out to see how the second gen eee pc ends up. I'm glad they started making laptops for me, I really appreciate it. Maybe I'll throw Xbuntu or something on there and be happy as a pig in shit? Who knows?

I want a computer that does not use a keyboard nor a mouse. Something that is portable but durable enough to withstand my personal habits. I'm thinking a tablet PC with total voice commands. When we get to that stage call me and I'll upgrade. I seen the EEEEEeeee on them commercials and it looks cool. How long's that battery last?

Ok, Robb I know I QA at work, but something is up when posting. I keep getting errors. Do you want me to open a ticket?

some other cool things

This thing is so tiny, I was so damn happy when I got it and saw just how small it was. This may be TMI, but it is perfect to use in bed like a fortune cookie! I can lay on my belly and be able to still enjoy surfing or emailing when I lay awake coming up with shit in my head. You can honestly use this thing in the most unusual positions possible. Now I have not tried to use it why sexing up my wife, but I am sure it could be possible. Nothing like pulling the missionary and emailing the boss. Heck even the buck could be executed while checking email on this thing.

Get one, you deserve it and take portable gaming to new levels and your sex life :)

EEE PC, it's like a fresh slap to the ass

If I got a quarter for every double post today, I would have plenty of quarters to lend Robb at work for Mtn Dews. Damn it, is this thing on times 2 today ICJ?

EEE PC, it's like a fresh slap to the ass

I love this little guy. I am typing on it right now, this very instance. Everyone I show the thing to has to touch it, play with it, hump it, and give it a kiss. It could be the awesome form factor or the fact the thing is so damn cool!

I have installed XP on it as I was having major issues tethering my Treo 700wx to the advanced Linux install. I had no problems with the Xandros install once I went to the advanced option. I would have stayed with the original OS, but the idea of retrieving email and having this thing completely portable was a nice option for a mover and shaker like myself. Now my decision was also based on the fact I bought a new gaming laptop from Asus as well off Newegg. I bought the Asus G1S and it is a little to large to always haul to the office.

I got the Galaxy Black Surf model at 4 gigs of pure pleasure. Upon installing xp I still had a little over a gig left, but this is of no concern to this kid as I also have an 8 gig sd card and bought a USB powered portable HD. I have installed Half Life on the USB and this thing runs it flawlessly.

This is seriously one of my favorite purchases I have made in the gadget realm and Robb may back me up, I am a sucker for all gadgets.

Get it from Newegg and you will have it extremely fast. Go check out the http://forum.eeeuser.com/ and you may have as much fun as I have had finding games to run and hacking the shit out of this baby. The 512 is plenty as well. I have not seen any issues with this thing running stuff. Openoffice runs like a champ from the SD card and I love being able to take this thing to my various stereos throughout the house to listen to www.pandora.com radio.

Battery life is around 4 hours when closing the lid and listening to pandora.

Hope that helps, you will not regret your purchase. The price is right and it is fun as hell to tote this feather weight system around.

Who the hell was on the naming committee? A cavefull of bats?

HEY WORM! The Milker bought one of those EEE PCs. He loves it. He downloads content from work all day on the thing. You can tether the thing to your phone if that has the Internet enabled, and go from there. He also put Vista on it.

4 gig isn't enough for anyone. You want the 8 GB model.

Also, I think the thing can only go up to 800x400?

by Worm » Tue Feb 05, 2008 8:59 pm

eeepc and cloudbook. So yeah, it's gay. CAN I GET SOME INPUT HERE PEOPLE? I like the look of the eeePC better, but 100 bucks more just to have a reasonable amount of memory, and assuring I need to switch the OS because of problems? WEAK!

OTOH, the cloudbook seems to give me NO REASON to switch the OS.

Asus, a gay name? Why, wheretofore?

I want to buy a sub notebook!

http://www.everex.com/

or

http://eeepc.asus.com/global/

Both names are gay, so that's a push. The eee pc has solid state storage (but If I'm dropping my laptop while defragging do I even deserve life? much less a computer.) and it costs 100 bucks more to get 8 GB instead of 4 GB. The cloudbook is faster with less memory, and more storage. Since I can't begin to imagine breaking 512 MB farting around on a laptop, I'm leaning toward what has better specs beside memory.

Both have what I can assume are linux distros with nice frontends. Since most of my linux needs (vim, cc, ssh) are command line I can't imagine I'll need to run something special (unless I'm a fag and can't stand friendly linux).

Apparently the eee pc's linux distro has issues about not freeing storage after uninstalling a package through the computer's package manager. Only having 8 GB to work with I could see this becoming very obnoxious.
