One system is going to be overclocked. The other is going to have a rom dumper attached to it because I have a couple chinese games that I've played since I was four (gift from a cousin) that I can't find online (arguably, one is a wonky version of Super Mario Bros. 3, the other is a Mah Jong strip game, and I'd need to post screenshots from the others).

I'll see if I can grab a camera and do a work log while I'm at it. Only a few days till summer vacation!

EDIT #1 Both mods will ruin the systems though. Thankfully I have three working units, and one will remain untouched (err... Except for the new 72 pin reader I need to attach).

EDIT #2 The price of the NES console has gone down on ebay, but I picked these units at various flea markets and they used to be priced as "vintage units", but now no one really cares.

Whatcha got planned for the boards?

With Nintendo's newest console playing NES games, and the patents on the NES having expired (allowing the Gen-X and the Fami Twin among others), the cost of the original NES (front loading) console has finally fallen below $200.

Which means I can finally screw around with two or three of them without much worry (screwing around with the PCB and a few special kits for doing.. Special things).

So hey! Finally!

- Elite. I can't remember the names of the Elite guys, but one of them, Bell I think, said the Nintendo version was his favorite.
Huh, I had that on my "to play on emulated (or real, if I buy one again) Apple IIe" list, but maybe I should play the NES version instead?

My so recently modded xbox has both those emulators installed. All I need is a larger hard drive and the time to figure out how to move the roms. Oh, and the time to actually PLAY the games.

Someone made a console that plays both Genesis and NES games, so obviously I'm going to own it, it's just a matter of when. But that's not the POINT of this thread.

Tell me your GODDAMN favorite Genesis and NES games! My brother took ours when I left New York, so the only ones I have are NES Hockey and Excitebike. This means I gotta get:

GENESIS GAMES
- Road Rash (#1 or #3?)
- NHLPA Hockey '93 (The last one with fighting)
- Altered Beast
- Sonic... but 1, 2 or 3?
- Starflight? Star Control?
- That one Spider-Man game

NES GAMES
- Super Dodge Ball, natch
- Super Mario Bros, and SMB3 ... #2 was just some slop they threw the Mario name on, right? It was not a Miyamoto game, correct?
- Elite. I can't remember the names of the Elite guys, but one of them, Bell I think, said the Nintendo version was his favorite.
- Tengen Tetris, although I know that's unlikely.

Anything else?!?! Whatcha got?
