I had an opportunity to play Rock Band 2 yesterday - great game, really fun. (I had done some Guitar Hero before, but it was a while ago.) I did find that I enjoyed it more if I knew the song we were performing, but at the same time, my musical tastes exist somewhere between gay and wee gay jobby, so I'm not going to hold that against anyone.
I only played bass, and I have determined, with arcade games, that whatever function requires the most dexterity gets my right hand. Rock Band is like an arcade game, and I felt that doing the frets would take the most DEX. This means that I was holding it "left handed." It was tough going at first, but RB2 has a "lefty mode." When it comes to playing a guitar, I am a lefty. Who knew?
I failed out on a few songs, and I did like that the game showed my bassist avatar just sitting there while the song played. The game is full of nice little touches like that.
Anyway, I know, welcome to like 2004, but still - fantastic game. If I had more room, I would definitely have picked the game up based on playing it one night.
