OK. In order to keep this thread alive I have taken one for the team and hit the corn liquor hard tonight. Or vise-versa. Whatever. Glen Thunder! whoo-hoo!

Wow, there's three great reasons not to live in Oklahoma. Sounds almost as bad as Texas.

by Ice Cream Jonsey » Sun Sep 20, 2009 3:35 pm

Seriously, what do they do, change the taps or something? I am 100% in favor of churches being allowed to do their thing and I don't feel they should pay taxes and rah bah bah but man it really irks me when they can't understand the simple concept of "separation of church and state." 3.2%! And I'll bet brewers had to fight for that 0.2% as well.

I was reading something somewhere recently [Citation needed] about how football may very well be contributing to the growing array of non-believers in this country. REACTION!!!!????

How do they make money off of football in the bars then?

I miss Marketview Liquor sooo very much! Here the liquor stores are state owned and only about twice the price of good old MV. God damed sin taxes!

Plain beer from a half keg tonight.

What could be worse than that?

Seems like every time I go to Marketview Liquor I get to taste something new. Today it was Amsterdam gin.

Very nice! I could SO make a martini out of this! Same cheap price as Smirnoff vodka. Not available in pints tho....

You're soaking in it!

You already had the ingredients (gin and roses): a gimlet is a martini except with roses lime instead of vermouth. Hence, it should be as dry as you possibly can stand it and have a decent gin (Bombay sapphire) or smooth enough vodka. A well made gimlet is no "girley drink" either so don't be embarrassed to drink it among folks having martinis and scotches.

by Ice Cream Jonsey » Tue Aug 25, 2009 12:16 am

A splash of Rose's is ideal. What a gimlet then? I could look this up, but it's been a slow month for the bbs.

I need something to mix with gin and rose's lime juice when I go out. It has to be something I can easily request and not look like a jackass doing. I require suggestions.

Do people mix gin and vodka?
How about adding rum and mint, kind of a super mojito? Or just go with your ingredients but only ask for a "splash" or rose's lime juice for a perfect gimlet. You should never drink a "green looking" gimlet and risk overpowering the gin with too much limey sweetness.

So... I tasted a new vodka last Sunday.

Three Olives bubblegum flavored vodka.
Now, I ask as a concerned adult, who is the marketing focus they were aiming this product to?

Bubblegum flavored vodka... What could you mix THAT with?

The serving girl suggested red bull...Bleah!

Dude, beer from a turkey fryer is AWESOME!

KBC started only last September. Place is really not much to look at. but the beer is great. fifteen bucks for a half gallon growler, and since I'm in the beer club (suddenly) it's only 14 bucks.

There's a brewery in Keuka?!?? maybe it's a good thing I didn't know that when I was going to school there.

And, I believe I will begin my homebrewing experience later this month. I decided a full 1/2 barrel is too big, mainly because the equipment required is stupid expensive. To make 15.5 gal of finished beer you'd need at least a 17 gallon boiler, which costs more than the keg.

So, I'm going to trade my Yuengling 1/2 barrel for a Genny sCream ale 1/4 (or maybe a Yueng black and tan) and use that. Combined with a turkey fryer I picked up at a garage sale. Rock on.

Why am I the only one that posts to this thread? because i'm the only one that gets hammered and wants to write?

Speaking of which, I have been re-writing a Perry Rhodan novel in order to make it better and cannot do so unless I'm on lunch at work. I have a week off and cannot find the hole in the page at all. When I'm at work I fall right in and all these great ideas hit me and I never have enough time to write them out. Maybe it's the xerox keyboard, I dunno.

OK I found it.

Sad part is that I only post here after lots of H202 (which I am told, is hair peroxide, again)

Best friends oldest daughter graduated HS. By the skin of her teeth. The term Bell Curve comes to mind. Best friend had a party tonight. She's such a stoner, but her family is nice. We tried to jam with her boyfriend but he's 18 and never really played with another guitarist before. Too much Wah pedal. Ibanez acoustic / electric and he turned it way too loud for anyone to play along. Plus he was stoned to the gills and thought he sounded good. Never offered any to me, bastard. I had a growler of Keuka Brewing Co red. and it was damn good. When is JackStraw gonna start making his own?

Anyway, It was a good time.

So let me tell ya, for the last month I've been on the South Beach diet. MODIFIED South Beach diet. Doctors orders. Said lose 20 by middle of July. Works great, went from 225 to 200 in a little over a month. So I said let's have a beer or two, what the hell. Third time I've had a drink since middle of May. Funny thing, living on rabbit food makes a body get all drunk a lot quicker. Tonight was my top three favorite, War of 1812 ale by the Sackett's Harbor brewing CO. A light, slightly nutty flavor with a really good finish. Bottled is second best to draught but I'll take what I can get. Don't care for the pasteurization. Six of them tonight and I'm done. Blotto. Used to be I could do a 12 pack and feel like going out for more. Now I want to shleeeeep, shleeeep.
