He will be missed.

Which is not to say he doesn't still have a show, but about three years ago he switched stations, and turned his show more into a right-leaning political show, which makes us all cry.

Let's not harp on that, and just celebrate the true genius that was pre-2005 Phil Hendrie.

It's really tough for us to be introduced to things as we get older. I dunno why. I try to keep an open mind.

This Phil Hendrie guy is a GENIUS.

Here's a Youtube video:

And Phil is doing both voices. The one part the 10 minute Youtube vids seem to cut out is the part where the callers then call up and yell at the fake guest.

I must have more of this. Pinback used isohunt.com to find that link above - I'm going to try to find a disc of Phil's stuff and post it. This is GENIUS. If you've ever listened to talk radio, you'll agree that the people who call are terrible. These people need to be made fun of.

I am also amazed how seamlessly Phil Hendrie goes between his voice and the voice of the fake guest. Jesus Christ it's uncanny!

Thanks to the miracle of the internet, I was able to scrounge up this, one of the greatest moments in radio history! On Larry King's birthday no less!

http://moltobenny.com/misc/larryking.mp3

The time: 1996. The station: WIOD. The host: Phil Hendrie, who made radio history by having a show where he would get people to call in and yell at his guests, when in fact all of his guests were made up characters which he would be doing the voices of at the same time he was hosting the show.

The caller: Larry King, who, despite having "done this for a long time", and "knowing how to do a talk show", does not realize that Bob Greene, the general manager of WIOD, who he is talking to, is a fake voice.

Enjoy. And, happy birthday, Larry. You old idiot.
