I spent a little time during my last trip playing around some more with iDOS. The biggest problem is the controls. They work, but ... I'm afraid I may never get accustomed to virtual buttons on a touch screen. My thumbs tend to drift and soon I'm mashing a part of the screen that controls nothing. iDOS supports both virtual mice and keyboard controls, but it's just not quite there.

What I would love is some sort of support for USB game pads ... maybe a pad to USB hub that the iPod could read when plugged in to. Not the most portable solution, but it would make things a hundred times more fun.

Wait, what?

You mean that's not really in A Christmas Story? What have I been watching all these years?

It's working now. Let the love flow.

I found out why. It's because I use Feedburner, and the category feed reroutes to the main feed. Feedburner is outdated, but I started using it years and years ago (before Google bought it) back before Wordpress had truly RSS-compliant feeds.

Long story short, I got a new category feed set up and resent it to Radix. Hopefully it'll be added shortly.

I'll check with radix to see why. I believe in you, Flack!

I posted one earlier and it didn't work. :/

Annnnnnnnnnd it should be up shortly!

Aaaaaaaaand the punchline.

(Wait for it ...)

"You'll shat your eye out."
Just for that, you get one of my really bad jokes.

Guy goes into a whorehouse but he only has $5. So the madam tells him they've got a woman for him, but all he gets to do is bang her. So he says okay, and goes into the room where she's lying on the bed, naked. So he gets on top of her, sticks it in and starts pounding away on her. Then he comes, and immediately this horrible green ooze comes pouring out of everywhere: her ears, her nose, her mouth! Guy runs screaming out of the room and tells the madam at the desk. She picks up a walkie-talkie, and says into it, "Hey Ralph! The dead one's full again!"

OK, I just told Radix in the ifMud right now. I'll post again when he says it's all set up!

Let me know if/when that goes through. I have a couple of IF-related blog posts on standby, but I will hold them until they get me added (makes sense).

My RSS feed is: http://feeds.feedburner.com/robohara

I will be sure to tag them with "Interactive Fiction"

I couldn't login and post to tell those guys to get their shit together. The site is down or something. I see it in Cydia, but I can't get the actual program.

Taking a look!
Yes. Here is their website:

http://www.dospad.net

More directly, here is a link to instructions to install the program on any jailbroken phone using Cydia:

The latest beta (1.92) supports loading games in .zip format from URLs, so you don't need to copy them over if you don't want to. I copy them over manually (to /var/mobile/documents).

Yeah, I added "Interactive Fiction" as a tag because I thought it would get picked up by IF Dwarf, but I guess not. :/

Also I am retarded and messed up the name of your game in my post. It's fixed now. I think my head combined it with A Christmas Story.

Also - that looks like the competition version of ACS. A bugfixed version is here: http://www.joltcountry.com/downloads/scourge.zip

... and a text-only version here: http://www.ifarchive.org/if-archive/gam ... urgdos.hex

by Ice Cream Jonsey » Sun Oct 31, 2010 9:07 pm

WELL WELL WELL, isn't this the most amazing thing ever? I love it. Well, I guess I gotta get an iPad now. (Nobody say anything, but I'm getting my girlfriend one for Christmas.)

Although! In your blog post, you refer to ACS as "A Crimson Story." I only mention it because I didn't understand why the Google Alert I have for "A Crimson Spring" didn't go off.

Anyway, I am going to direct the Planet IF people to your blog right now. Let me know if you want me to tell the guy who runs Planet IF to add robohara.com to it when you specify an "Interactive Fiction" tag to your blog posts or something.
