One of the things I've found at Family Dollar is canned strawberries. Whole strawberries in light syrup, just the way pears and peaches are packed. (Pineapple is packed in pineapple juice.)
Well, I got the idea of making waffles, but to get them flavored, substitute the liquid from a can of strawberries for the water normaly used.
What I didn't realize is the sugar in the liquid would carmelize, or cook and stick to the waffle iron. Cooking a waffle for three minutes got me a very dark cooked waffle that took forever to peel loose from the iron.
So, like Thomas Edison who learned 600 ways how not to make a light bulb, I know not to do that again.
