This is Box 19: http://tateita.com/box19.html

It is room escape, boiled down the barest elements. It's pretty easy, pretty short, and there's no conceit to a story or anything. Escape Generic Room By Solving Generic Puzzles Game.

If you've never played a room escape game before, this might not be a bad starting point.

Can you all just ignore him and discover the joys of the Room Escape game genre?

What's he using for his server, a 53K modem connection to the Internet? I've seen other Flash games, and even We Create Stuff's "Portal the Flash game" which is a 7 meg download, doesn't take over 3 minutes to load.

I ran it for about 30 seconds, it is unplayable. I do not get what I'm supposed to do, and if it's a puzzle game I don't get it. This game sucks.

Text adventure my ass! Not unless your native language is Kanji. The screen was nothing but mojobake characters and was essentially unreadable.
Don't read the page. Wait for the game to load. The games are in English.

If you're still in 320x200 resolution, you might have to scroll down the page to find the flash window.

(Note for those who don't understand, "mojobake" is the method of displaying the Japanese language as Kanji characters and as Japanese text. Before they figured out how to have web browers show mojobake the only way to display non-latin text was to draw it in a paint program and save the image as a gif, jpg, or png.)

This one's shorter and easier than the last one, if you're in a mellower mood. Plus, smooth jazz!

Here's another one. God DAMN is it hard. But in retrospect, completely fair. These are the most rewarding.

A game that is akin to Saw I? Okay, I'll try it and then report back here with my impressions since I'm intrigued.

Who doesn't like Room Escape games? Several of you? Well, goddammit, it's the Text Adventure for the new millenium!

Here, play this brand new one. I found parts of it to be hard as fuck, but none of it is unfair. This is what we look for in a good Room Escape game. The kind of puzzles that make you happy with yourself when you figure them out, instead of angry at the developer.

Select "English", unless you prefer not to.

Basic primer for anyone who hasn't played room escape games: Basically a point/click adventure, except you don't go anywhere until you win. Things that matter will do something when you click on them. Things that don't, won't.

Also don't forget to click "about item" to bring up the close-up views. Sometimes you can even click on those.

Enjoy.
