Last night around midnight, as in about 40 minutes ago, someone called me on Skype, and my first thought was it was "Don Rogers" again, since it would only be about 9 there.
So, I'm trying to get out of bed, get into my wheelchair, then steer the wheelchair about 10 feet over to the computer, and as I suspected, while I was trying to get up whoever was calling gave up and disconnected.
Well, I'd already started to get up so I wasn't about to let them disturb me and not have me call them back.
I had my standard line - I have a story about it - that if someone's calling me in the middle of the night they'd better be in the hospital or in jail. (Probably because if they weren't already I'd see about putting them there. Maybe both if I was pissed-off bad enough.)
So I get to my computer about 2 or 3 minutes later - although it seems like a lot longer - I find out it's not Pinback, it's RetroRomper. So I call him back.
So I discover that he's also living on the right coast in the same time zone as guess who. We had an interesting conversation for about 20 minutes or so. He had to turn the video off on his laptop because it messes up his connection (and mostly all I saw was a blur). So I also turned mine off. (If you heard "Don Rogers" conversation with me, you'll note he didn't have a web cam and he asked me to turn mine off because it messed up the crummy internet he gets from the guys running an ISP probably out of an ex-Subway store.)
So it was an interesting experience. If anyone's interested I'll tell the story about the guy who called me in the middle of the night who was in jail.
