Sorry, forgot to ever chime in here. No, Kent still has plans for Hugo; he's just had to give all of his attention to his screenwriting program (for which he was recently interviewed by the Hollywood Reporter so hopefully that gives him a nice boost).
Still, I think it's because of the earnestness of his intent to get back to Hugo that Nikos wasn't given the go-ahead to make changes.
In the meantime, we can continue making Hugo better in the ways we know how.
