I don't really think of Al as a curmudgeon. In fact, he partly represents one of the cuter aspects of the IF community, in that he's eternally optimistic (this is the guy who wanted to charge people $100 each to play his game and the one who beat it first was going to get $100,000) and enthusiastic about IF. The flip side of that is, of course, he's insane, what with his longtime love for AGT and his total distrust of the government (including banks and the postal service and all that).
Of course, I'm glad the guy is still around and I think it's great that he's just crazy enough to stick around even when people treat him poorly. I just can't play his games for very long.
